The mini 3D printer is a particularly beginner-friendly device that hardly requires any technical know-how. The 18,9D printer, measuring just 30,2 x 23,1 x 3 cm, is delivered fully assembled. Putting it down and connecting it to the electricity is half the battle. The device is available in white, orange and a bright yellow - there is something for every taste.
A big advantage of the KOKONI EC2 is its software, because the 3D printer can be controlled completely via an app and is equipped with WiFi. At the same time, templates from a huge database can be transferred to the 3D printer at the push of a button. New templates are added every week and according to KOKONI, more than 2000 print templates have already been uploaded for use.
You no longer have to worry about the settings of the 3D printer, because the appropriate settings for the respective print are transferred straight away. This makes the KOKONI EC2 one of the simplest 3D printers on the market. But the software can do even more. It is able to use artificial intelligence to create a 3D model from a photo, which can then be printed using a 3D printer.
In terms of how it works, the KOKONI EC2 is an FDM printer. This means that in this 3D printer the filament is brought from a cassette on the back, via an extruder and a 0,6 mm nozzle to the 10 x 10 cm printing plate.
The maximum print size is < 10 cm in area and a maximum of 6 cm in height. This makes it perfect for miniatures of all kinds. As mentioned, the filament is only available in cassettes from the manufacturer, although it is theoretically possible to open the cassette to wind your own filament onto the spool.
The nuisance of many 3D printers is their slow printing speed. The KOKONI EC2 works here at up to 100 mm/s, which means most prints can be produced in 20 minutes. In order to have a constant view of the printing progress, the device is equipped with a 720p camera that transmits a live image directly to the app.
