Cubot Max 2 - Inexpensive 6.8 inch smartphone released

Cubot has released a new smartphone to the already released 2016 Max model series. The Cubot Max 2 is a 6.8 inch phablet with MediaTek Octa-Core processor, lush 4 + 64GB memory and current Android 9 operating system. You can find all the information about the 135 € expensive low-budget smartphone in the following article.

Display

Outside hui, inside ugh, that's how the Cubot Max 2 can be described in a few words. Even with the display, it is noticeable that the manufacturer places the Max 2 primarily in the low budget area. With a display diagonal of 6.8 inches, only one HD display was installed, which has a resolution of 1352 x 640 pixels. The point density is 220 PPI, which is why visible pixels are to be expected. The panel itself is of the IPS type. According to Cubot, the display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. To what extent the manufacturer actually uses Corning branded glass is very difficult to understand. Usually, a Gorilla Glass 5 screen protector is rather unusual in this price range.

An interesting design feature is the notch, which on the Max 2 is not located in the top center, but on the right edge of the display. The notch surrounds the 8 megapixel front camera. To what extent this will affect the status bar remains to be seen. According to Cubot, the Max 2 comes with a largely unchanged Android 9 Pie.

Processor

Even with the processor used, the Cubot Max 2 is not a performance hit. The MediaTek Helio P2018 SoC, which was released in 22 and is specifically designed for affordable smartphone models, is installed. The processor is made up of, among other things, 8 Cortex-A53 cores that clock at up to 2 GHz. The GPU of the SoC (system-on-chip) is an IMG PowerVR GE8320, which can be used to play games like "Asphalt 8", but the graphic details have to be significantly reduced for smooth gaming fun. The GPU also limits the resolution of the supported displays to a maximum of 1600 x 700 pixels, which explains why Cubot had to opt for a low-resolution panel.

The Max 2 collects plus points in the RAM, which is impressive with 4GB, especially for a low budget device. The internal memory specified at 64GB is also convincing. This can also be expanded by a further 256GB.

Camera

The Cubot Max 2 is equipped with a dual main camera on the back. The main sensor is a Sony IMX486 with 12 megapixel resolution. This is supported by an unspecified 2 megapixel sensor. The test will have to show whether the second sensor actually has a function. Chinese smartphone manufacturers are known for installing fake sensors, especially in the low-budget sector! The front camera has a resolution of 8 megapixels. The information about the image sensor is also missing here.

Other

The capacity of the battery is 5.000 mAh. The smartphone is charged via USB-C. A 3.5 mm jack audio socket is available. In addition to 2G and 3G, the Cubot Max 2 also supports 4G. LTE can be used without restrictions in this country. WiFi is supported in dual-band, but does not use the fast dual-AC protocol. Bluetooth is available in version 4.2.

A notification LED is available and located above the display. GPS and A-GPS are supported. Other sensors are a proximity sensor, a brightness sensor, an acceleration sensor, a gyroscope and an e-compass. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the back, which can be used to unlock the smartphone.

It's a shame, only the MT6753 again. Cubot must still have a whole range of this old processor ...

MT6753A 8CORES + 3/32 / 128GO + ANDROID 6.0 / ota + 6 '' HD = 38500Antutu pts = my Galaxy tab per 8.4 '' 500 € or S5. With 4100mAh REMOVABLE + 8 / 1.3Mp + DUAL Sim + FULL 4G + OTG for 99-160 € that is the perfect combination to get a comfortable middle class phone for entry level cash with UNLIMITED ROM CAPACITY. 720p is ok until 10 '' and makes it possible to have the proc & gpu & Os running smootly for 1 to 4 days. It even has a (blue) notification led and the android menu buttons are not in but under the screen. IT does not have fast charge or finger print scanner or stereo front speakers or a good selfy cam but my tab pro does not better and I'm used to it and I charge it nightly.
