POCO X6 Pro: High-end gaming performance for a small budget

Updated by Timo Altmeyer on the 12. January 2024

The smartphone brand POCO is starting 2024 with a new smartphone series. Three models were unveiled, including the POCO X6 Pro, which promises rapid gaming performance as the new top model. Packed with powerful functions, the inexpensive smartphone is intended to appeal primarily to the young generation of Gen Z trendsetters

Faster Dimensity 8300 Ultra

To withstand this, PCOO relies on the new Dimensity 8300 Ultra mobile platform from MediaTek. It is divided into an 8-core CPU with a clock speed of up to 3,35 GHz and a high-performance Mali G615 GPU.

In the AnTuTu benchmark, the POCO Even demanding mobile games are guaranteed not to become stuttering with such performance.

Lots of memory and large battery

We can also expect a lot of performance from the memory. Here the POCO X6 Pro relies on a combination of fast LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 4.0 solid storage. It is available either in combination with 8+256 GB or 12+512 GB storage. This means there is enough space for apps, games and all other data, even if the smartphone does not have the option to expand memory.

A battery with a capacity of 5.000 mAh supplies the power pack with energy for one to two days, depending on the intensity of use. The smartphone charges quickly from the socket with up to 67 watts, which means it takes around 45 minutes to charge from 0-100%.

Xiaomi HyperOS

There is reason to be happy about the software. The smartphone already uses the new  Xiaomi HyperOS, which retires MIUI on Xiaomi's new devices. Although the operating system is still based on Android 14, Xiaomi promises better performance than MIUI, an optimized user interface and many new functions, especially in the privacy area.

5G cellular, WiFi 6 (AX) and Bluetooth 5.4

When it comes to connectivity, the POCO X6 Pro is also well positioned. It supports fast 5G cellular, WiFi 6 (AX) and Bluetooth 5.4. Mobile payment is made possible with the help of NFC. GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo and QZSS are used for navigation.

10-bit AMOLED display with 120 Hz

The display has undergone a significant upgrade compared to its predecessor. POCO has recently installed a flat 10-bit Flow AMOLED panel ("CrystalRes") with a fast 120 Hz refresh rate. The screen diagonal is 6,67 inches and the resolution is a crisp, sharp 2721 x 1220 pixels.

With a peak brightness of 1800 nits in HDR and 1200 nits in "High Brightness Mode", the display is very bright and should remain easy to read in daylight.

It is coordinated with the DCI-P3 color space, which largely covers the range of naturally occurring colors. The display is protected from scratches and drops by solid Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

64MP + 8MP + 2MP triple camera

When it comes to cameras, the POCO X6 Pro has a 64 MP main camera with 4-in-1 pixel binning, f/1.7 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS). The main camera is capable of recording video in 4K at 30 frames per second.

There is also an 8 MP ultra wide-angle camera with 120° field of view and f/2.2 aperture and a 2 MP macro camera with f/2.4 aperture. On the front there is a  16 MP front camera (f/2.4) for selfies.

  • Hi Timo,

When I compare the X6 Pro with the X6, I don't see any major differences. Do you think the extra charge is worth it or not?
