LITTLE F4 GT
POCO speaks up with the POCO F4 GT Gaming Smartphone, which is intended to inspire a younger audience in particular. As is so often the case with Xiaomi brands, the smartphone is based on the Redmi K50 Gaming, which was recently introduced in China.
“We are incredibly happy to be able to present the POCO F4 GT today. With such an uncompromising user experience at a surprisingly affordable price, we believe the POCO F4 GT will be the perfect everyday gadget for the younger target group of tech enthusiasts, especially gamers."
Angus Ng, Head of Product Marketing at POCO Global.
Lots of bling bling for gamers
The POCO F4 GT attaches great importance to its appearance. In order to appeal to the younger target group in particular, the smartphone appears in the typical gamer look with a striking back that looks as sleek as a racing car. You can choose between the colors Stealth Black, Knight Silver and Cyber Yellow.
To give gamers an edge, the POCO F4 GT relies on magnetic pop-up triggers. Similar to the shoulder buttons on a gamepad, the programmable trigger buttons are intended to complement the inputs on the display and improve the gaming experience. Outside of the gaming session, the triggers can also be used as shortcuts, for example to activate the camera at the push of a button. The service life is said to be up to 1,5 million pressure pulses.
Gamers also benefit from the so-called "CyberEngine", which, according to POCO, is one of the best linear vibration motors on the market and provides special gaming impressions while gaming. Last but not least, there is an RGB light on the back that acts as a notification LED, charging indicator and game turbo indicator.
Faster Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and MIUI 13
The POCO F4 GT is fast thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The chip, manufactured using the 4nm process, is currently the fastest mobile platform from Qualcomm, which shines with outstanding CPU and GPU performance, but also with all the latest connection standards in terms of connectivity, such as 5G mobile communications, WiFi-6 and Bluetooth 5.2 united.
The CPU consists of three clusters. A particularly fast Cortex X2 core that clocks at up to 3,0 GHz, three Cortex A710 performance cores with a clock rate of up to 2,5 GHz and four Cortex A510 energy-saving cores that work at up to 1,8 GHz. The POCO F4 GT is thus excellently positioned and should still be able to offer sufficient performance reserves in the future.
The performance of the Adreno 730 graphics acceleration is important for gamers, which experience has shown that it can even handle performance-hungry mobile games very well. In order to avoid performance losses due to heat development, POCO relies on LiquidCool Technology 3.0 liquid cooling. A test will have to show whether the smartphone can keep a cool head even under constant load.
Optional 8GB or 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB or 256GB UFS3.1 data storage complete the hardware specifications. On the software side, the POCO F4 GT comes with MIUI 13 for Poco based on Android 12. As a small software feature, all buyers receive two months of YouTube Premium free of charge.
120 Hz AMOLED display
The front of the POCO F4 GT occupies a flat 6,67-inch AMOLED display. The 120 Hz refresh rate guarantees lightning-fast display. POCO relies on a 480 Hz sampling rate so that inputs arrive with the highest precision.
The resolution of the display is 2400 x 1080 pixels, which in turn corresponds to a pin-sharp 394 PPI. The display of the POCO F3 GT completely covers the DCI-P4 color space and with a color depth of 10-bit more than a billion colors can be displayed.
Other features of the display are eye-friendly 1920Hz PWM dimming, 800 nits (HBM) brightness and a particularly scratch- and break-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass Victus display protection. Speaking of screen protection: For the first time, users can take advantage of the company's premium customer service, which offers a one-time free screen repair for the first six months after purchase.
Triple camera with 64 MP main camera
The camera equipment of the POCO F4 GT is less spectacular. On the back of the smartphone there is a triple camera, which consists of a 64 MP Sony IMX686 main camera (f/1.9 aperture), an 8 MP ultra wide-angle camera (FOV 120° - f/2.2 aperture) and a 2 MP macro camera (f/2.4) divided.
The sensors installed here can also be found more often in cheaper mid-range smartphones, but experience has shown that they take good photos and videos. On the front is a 20 MP Sony IMX596 front camera for selfies.
120W HyperCharge and more
The POCO F4 GT is also fast when charging. The 120W HyperCharge fast charging technology charges the 4700 mAh battery of the smartphone from 17 to 0 percent in just 100 minutes. So that there are no interruptions during gaming, the battery can be fully charged in just 27 minutes, even under full load. POCO has taken safety precautions that protect the battery from overcharging, among other things.
What else is there? NFC for mobile payments (Google Pay) is available, there is a powerful quad-speaker system with Dolby Atmos support, and a fingerprint scanner that didn't make it under the display, but is integrated into the power button. POCO has dispensed with a 3,5 mm headphone jack and a microSD memory expansion.
