NO.1 D5 Unbrick / Firmware flashing

Unbrick / Flashing

A brick is always present when the smartwatch, despite a fully charged battery can not be turned on, no longer responds to inputs or the smartwatch crashes during the boot process. For laymen, the clock may be defective, but often it is not a hardware bricks, but only a software bricks, which can be fixed with simple means.

If the clock is really "dead", you can use the following steps.

Disconnect the motherboard from the battery

To do this, unscrew the back of the smartwatch. Then remove the metal cover from the board so that you have access to the Power Connector. Now remove it carefully (remove upwards!). After a few seconds, reconnect the motherboard to the battery and screw the NO.1 D5 back together.

Then you should try if the smartwatch can be restarted. If the smartwatch still "dead", you should try to flash the firmware again.

Flashing firmware

I. MTK VCOM USB driver

First you need the MTK VCOM USB driver corresponding to the Windows version. This is located in this linked package (or here).

For Windows 8 and higher, you must first disable the driver signature.

 Windows 10

  1. Open command prompt (as administrator). To do this, press WIN + X (or enter "cmd" in the search and start as administrator).
  2. Then enter the following commands:
    1. BCDEDIT set LoadOptions EENABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
    2. Confirm and then
    3. BCDEDIT set TESTSIGNING OFF
    4. Enter and confirm as well
  1. Restart the computer

 Windows 8

  1. Press WIN + I and click on "Restart" while holding down the "Shift" key
  2. Select: Troubleshoot -> Advanced Options -> Startup Settings -> Restart
  3. Use F7 to select "force driver signature"
  4. Restart the computer

If the driver signature is deactivated, the MTK VCOM USB driver can be installed. For this one must:

  1. Right-click on "Start" in the taskbar and select "Device Manager"
  2. In the window above select "Action" and click on "Add legacy hardware"
  3. Click through the wizard and select "Manually select and install hardware from a list"
  4. In the next step, select "Show all devices" and click on "Next"
  5. Then click on "Disk", select the path to the driver and confirm with "OK"
  6. Select "MTK USB Port" and click on "Next". (Skip the possible warning)
  7. The driver is now installed. Under “Connections” (COM & LPT) in the device manager we remove the “MTK USB Port” with “Uninstall”. The driver still remains in the system.
  8. The device should now be recognized as "MediaTek Preloader USB VCOM Port" or as "MTK USB Port".

II. SP Flash Tool

If the driver is installed correctly and the device is detected in the device manager, we can flash the firmware with the "SP Flash Tool". You should do this in the following steps. First, but you should disconnect the NO.1 D5 from the PC and turn off!

  1. We unzip "SP Flash Tool" and start the "flash-tool.exe"
  2. In the program we select the "Download Agent" under "Download". Here the "MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin" should be selected. Under the item "Scatter-loading File" we select the "MT6572_Android_scatter.txt" which is located in the folder of the NO.1 D5 firmware.
  3. In the selection under "Scatter-loading File" we select "Firmware Upgrade".
  4. Now we click the green "Download" button and then connect the deactivated Smartwatch with the PC.
  5. The firmware should now be flashed on the smartwatch.
