Ninebot by Segway brings new and particularly exciting e-scooters to the European market. The Ninebot KickScooter D series includes three models (D18E, D28E and D38E) that differ from each other in performance and range.
To anticipate the question of all questions: Yes, all models of the D series have an operating permit (ABE) and are approved for German road traffic (road approval)!
The smallest model with a 250 watt motor and a maximum range of 18 km is the Ninebot D18E. The e-scooter weighs 14,82 kg and can be folded to a transportable size of 114 x 48 x 50 cm.
Between the D18E and the D38E is the Ninebot D28E, which has a more powerful 300 watt motor and a range of up to 28 km. Due to the larger battery, the weight is slightly higher at 15,28 kg.
The third and most powerful model is the Ninebot D38E with a 350 watt motor and a range of 38 km. At 16,34 kg, this e-scooter is also slightly heavier than the other models.
All e-scooters in the Ninebot D series are restricted to 20 km/h for German traffic. Outside of Germany, the scooters can travel at speeds of up to 25 km/h.
An electronic front wheel brake (E-ABS) and a drum brake on the rear wheel ensure a particularly short and safe braking distance. There are also E-MARK certified front, side and Z-MARK certified rear reflectors as well as built-in 2,1 watt LED front and brake lights.
The 10-inch air-filled tires are suitable for all road surfaces. The Ninebot KickScooter should even be able to cope well with rough terrain. The D28E, for example, takes inclines of up to 15 percent, whereas the more powerful D38E masters inclines of up to 20 percent.
An LED color display acts as an on-board computer. This means you always have an overview of the driving mode, speed, battery and maintenance status. The driving mode can be changed to ECO (max. 15 km/h), Standard and Sport by touch. A special pedestrian mode reduces the speed to 5 km/h and makes it easier to push the e-scooter.
The battery is secured via a “Smart Battery Management System” (BMS). The Ninebot D18E can be safely charged in 3,5 hours, the D28E in 5 hours and the D38E in 6,5 hours.
