Published by Timo Altmeyer on February 1, 2024

Nothing officially announced the Nothing Phone (2a) as part of the quarterly community update. However, the tech company is not yet revealing any comprehensive details about the new Nothing Phone.

Nothing Phone (2a) Codename "Aerodactyl"

We actually didn't expect an announcement of the new Nothing Phone (2a) until the Mobile World Congress, but after the numerous leaks and hints from Carl Pei himself, it was to some extent foreseeable that a new Nothing Phone was on the way.

The now officially announced Nothing Phone (2a) is codenamed “Aerodactyl”. Nothing's Community Update talks about a device that includes the most popular features of the  NothingPhone (2)  inherits and at the same time offers more performance than the Nothing Phone (1).

So far, Nothing has held back on specific details about the appearance and features. We will probably only see the smartphone at the MWC in Barcelona at the end of February.

In addition to the announcement of the Nothing Phone (2a), there are two other updates on the sidelines. A Glyph Developer Kit will soon be released, which will give developers of third-party apps more options to interact with Nothings Glyph. Additionally, Jillian Gerngross has moved to Nothing as VP Marketing. Gerngross was most recently Director at Amazon Music and will enrich Nothing's audio division with her expertise.
