 Design

If you look at the data sheet of the smartphone, it hardly differs from other low budget devices. What distinguishes the Elephone S1, however, is on the one hand the high-quality design and the Freeme OS used. The housing frame is made of metal and the back is made of glass. With a weight of only 142.3g the Elephone S1 is not only light, with a thickness of only 6.7mm it is also extremely thin.

 Display, processor and memory

The screen diagonal is 5 inches, with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels (HD). The display technology uses IPS. With the MediaTek MTK6580 (32bit), a processor was installed that was appropriate for the price and was also impressive in the DOOGEE X5. This quad core processor clocks at 1.3GHz and enables a smooth Android experience. However, graphically demanding games cannot be played with the combination of MTK6580 processor and 1GB RAM. What speaks in favor of the processor is its economy in terms of battery consumption. The internal memory is 8GB. The memory can be expanded by a maximum of another 64GB using an SD memory card.

 Camera and sensors

The back of the Elephone S1 smartphone has an 8 megapixel main camera with autofocus and LED flash. The image sensor used is a SONY IMX149. The front camera only has a resolution of 2 megapixels. Information about the image sensor is missing. In addition to a G-sensor, the smartphone also has a brightness sensor and an acceleration sensor. GPS is available, as well as WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0. As an additional feature, there is a fingerprint scanner on the back.

 Operating system

The Freeme OS is not a new invention, but was already used in the UHANS S1. This is a "Total Conversion" ROM that has been expanded by 3000 functions and differs from Stock Android. The Freeme OS is comparable to the well-known MIUI or the Flyme OS. According to Elephone, Freeme 5.1 is preinstalled on the smartphone.

 Mains and battery

The Elephone S1 supports all common 2G and 3G standards. 4G standards are not supported! A dual SIM function (Micro + Nano SIM) is available. At only 1.800mAh, the battery is comparatively small, which is mainly due to the small size of the smartphone. Due to the economical battery and the optimized operating system, you should get through the day with the Elephone S1.
