UWANT B200: Design and scope of delivery
Does a vacuum cleaner need an unusual design? Not necessarily - as long as the functionality and performance are right. The UWANT B200 doesn't score points with its extravagant look, but it leaves a solid visual impression overall.
The rather simple plastic housing in gray or white is quite compact and appears to be robust. Thanks to the integrated wheels and top handle, the 6,3 kilogram vacuum cleaner can be easily maneuvered from room to room. Practical: The four meter long power cable disappears into the cable reel on the side without any tangled cables.
Operation is simple using touch-sensitive buttons - there is a separate button for each of the four cleaning modes (standard, steam, cleaning solution, ironing). The 1,5 liter water tank for fresh water is combined with a 200 milliliter container for cleaning agents. Both tanks, as well as the 1,5 liter collection container for dirty water, are removable and therefore easy to clean.
The hose with a suitable cleaning head is connected under the dirty water tank - whereby UWANT includes two hoses with special nozzles, one for upholstery and one for the ironing program. A holder for attachment is also included. The package is supplemented by a bottle of cleaner for deep penetration, textiles and mite control as well as an operating manual and a glove.
UWANT B200: practical test
Fill in water, plug in and then you're ready to go. With its 1900 watts, the vacuum cleaner cannot be ignored and is on par with many industrial vacuum cleaners. It only takes a few seconds for the device to come up to temperature and release steam.
The B200 can also be used without steam for sensitive textiles. To do this, simply select the standard mode. You can switch between programs in a flash using the control panel.
For the practical test, we first smeared a felt mat with mustard, ketchup, Nutella and soy sauce and let our outrage dry for a few hours. Then we got down to business in steam mode. Using a release button on the attachment, you spray water onto the surface to be worked on to initially moisten it slightly. However, the spray area is quite wide. This makes spot moistening rather difficult.
Soy sauce and Nutella were no problem for the UWANT B200. Go over it a few times with the upholstery attachment and most of the stains were removed. The transparent cover on the attachment makes it easy to see how the dirt is being sucked out. Mustard and ketchup proved to be more persistent and lasted significantly longer.
Even after five minutes of processing with steam and additional cleaning liquid, slight shadows still remained. Anyone hoping for a miraculous quick cleaning will be disappointed: simply holding it for a moment is not enough for stubborn stains. Perseverance and muscle strength are required to completely remove the dirt.
The B200 cuts a fine figure when cleaning upholstery. It's amazing how much dirt accumulates in your couch, mattress and car seat over the years. However, you need patience for large-area use - the cleaning area of just nine centimeters is relatively small. In addition, the cushions remain slightly damp after the treatment. The water is not completely sucked out; you should plan for a short drying phase.
We also tested the integrated ironing function - it serves its purpose, but is significantly slower than the good old iron. So if you value saving time, you should use the usual equipment.
After the work is done, the device needs to be thoroughly cleaned. The self-cleaning function of the attachment is not sufficient for this. Helpful: The transparent cover and brush at the front are removable and can be cleaned separately.
Finally, rinse out the dirty water tank and clean the coarse filter. Overall, it's a bit of a hassle for a device that's supposed to clean quickly and conveniently.
