xTool P3: 80 Watt CO2 laser engraver for prosumers and small businesses introduced

Published by Timo Altmeyer on the 31. August 2025

xTool has announced the P3, its most powerful CO₂ system to date. With 80 watts of power, a work area of almost one square meter, and an automated workflow, it aims to seamlessly handle serial production and large-scale projects.

Why the xTool P3 is interesting

Many makers are aware of the limitations of diode lasers. Thick wood, clear acrylic, or metal can only be processed to a limited extent. Even compact CO₂ machines eventually reach their limits, whether in terms of work area or speed. Anyone considering an industrial model quickly ends up with prices and complexity that are simply impractical for many.

The xTool P3 sits exactly between a consumer device and an industrial machine and is designed specifically for makers who want to scale their projects or small businesses that want to process jobs faster and more reliably without investing five-figure sums in specialized machines.

The most important technical data at a glance

  •  80 Watt CO₂ laser, optionally expandable with 5 Watt IR module for engraving on metal
  • Working area of 915 × 458 millimeters
  • Speed up to 1200 millimeters per second at two G acceleration
  • Cutting thickness up to 20 millimeters poplar wood or 25 millimeters acrylic in one pass
  •  Z height up to 220 millimeters through motorized AutoLift base
  •  Integrated water cooler for constant performance even during long jobs
  • Fully enclosed housing, laser class 1

Compared to the xTool P2 series, the P3 offers significant improvements in power, surface area, and speed. While the former was limited to 55 watts and a smaller work area, the new P3 is in a higher league.

Automated workflow and accessories for special tasks

The P3 automatically handles many steps that are performed manually with traditional CO₂ lasers. After inserting the material, a panoramic and a detail camera capture the entire work area. The software then allows the motif to be precisely positioned on the workpiece using drag and drop.

Finally, a laser distance sensor measures the height, and the motorized AutoLift base moves the workpiece to the correct position. This eliminates the need for focus gauges or mechanical adjustment aids, which are still common in other systems.

Functions such as auto-nesting and batch-fill are available for serial production. Auto-nesting arranges multiple objects on the material to minimize waste. Batch-fill allows you to position different motifs simultaneously and process them in a single pass. Those who regularly produce small batches or use sheet material on a larger scale save time and avoid errors that can occur with manual arrangement.

  •  Conveyor Feeder: This allows the P3 to feed panels up to three meters long in increments. The software creates a continuous preview of the entire work area and seamlessly stitches the individual camera images together. This allows even large-format signs or furniture parts to be produced without having to manually move the workpiece.
  •  RA3 Rotary: The RA3 Rotary is designed for cylindrical objects such as bottles, cups, or pipes. It replaces laborious manual alignment with an automated rotary device. The software displays a 3D preview, allowing the layout to be checked before engraving. This also allows for series production with multiple identical parts to be processed in a single pass.
  •  AP2 Max exhaust filter: xTool also considers the work environment. The AP2 Max exhaust filter uses multiple filter layers that can be individually replaced. It reduces odors and filters out pollutants generated during cutting and engraving.
  •  Mobile stand: For mobile use, there is a mobile stand that allows the 105 kilogram laser to be moved within the workshop.

Safety and continuous operation

While many CO₂ devices operate openly, the xTool P3 features a fully enclosed housing, which makes it a Class 1 laser. A sensor system also monitors the work area. Heat, flames, and vibrations immediately shut down the laser. Emergency stop switches, lid sensors, and an automatic stop system are also included.

Price and availability

The pre-order runs until September 10th. Anyone who makes a deposit of 100 euros now will save 1000 euros on the later selling price and will pay 5.926 euros for the standalone model (Right this way). After the Early Bird period, the price increases to the RRP of 6.926 euros.
