(Xiaomi) Redmi Note 7
It only became official a few days ago. Xiaomi's budget series "Redmi" will be continued as its own brand in the future. With the Xiaomi addition, only high-end models should appear. The first Redmi smartphone released under its own brand was presented on January 10th.
Drop Notch and color variety
It will be colorful! The Redmi Note 7 says goodbye to the classic colors and the metal back of the previous models. The smartphone is available in blue, red and black. The back consists of 2.5 curved glass, has a multi-layer structure and shimmers depending on the incidence of light. The IPS display with a 6.3 inch diagonal has a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. In order to accommodate the large display in the comparatively compact housing, Redmi has opted for a particularly slim drop notch. The display is protected by hardened Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
48 Megapixel main camera
The dual main camera of the Note 7 is also impressive. The main sensor is the recently released Sony IMX586, which has an impressive resolution of 48 megapixels. The main sensor is supported by a secondary 5 megapixel sensor. With the large 1/2" main sensor, the manufacturer expects a higher incidence of light at night and a significantly reduced amount of noise. The camera AI, especially the super night mode, further contribute to the improved recording quality.
Optical image stabilization (OIS) is not available. The main camera records videos with a maximum resolution of 1080p at 60 frames per second. The front camera has a resolution of 13 megapixels. Here, too, the camera AI is used, which coordinates the recordings according to the scene and artificially spices up selfies with various beauty filters.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 660
Qualcomm's Snapdragon 660 is used as the system-on-chip. The CPU is made up of 8 Kryo 260 processor cores, which are divided into a performance and energy saving cluster (1.8 - 2.2 GHz). The mid-range SoC scores points in graphical applications thanks to the Adreno 512 GPU. The system is supported by either 3GB, 4GB or 6GB RAM and 32GB or 64GB data storage. Memory expansion using a MicroSD memory card is possible up to 256GB. However, if you decide to expand your memory, you will have to do without one of the dual SIM slots!
Netcom 5.0 and Quick Charge 4.0
Further features include full Netcom 5.0 support with VoLTE HD on both SIM slots. Local users unfortunately have to get by without LTE Band 20. The Redmi Note 7 is expected to appear as a global version with extensive LTE support. The Chinese Redmi Note 7 supports the following bands:
Mobile radio frequencies / bands |
GSM: B2 / B3 / B5 / B8 CDMA1X / EVDO: BC0 WCDMA: B1 / B2 / B5 / B8 TD-SCDMA: B34 / B39 TD-LTE: B34 / B38 / B39 / B40 / B41 FDD-LTE: B1 / B3 / B5 / B7 / B8 |
The smartphone is connected wirelessly with Dual-AC WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0. NFC is not available, which is why contactless payment is not possible. The connection options of the Redmi Note 7 amount to a USB-C data and charging socket as well as a 3.5 mm jack audio socket. GPS, GLONASS and Beidou are used for navigation. In addition to the typical smartphone sensors, there is also an infrared sensor. With the appropriate app, it can be used to control TV sets.
The capacity of the built-in battery is 4.000 mAh. In order to charge the battery as quickly as possible, the Redmi Note 7 supports the current Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging standard. Contactless charging is not possible!
