Xiaomi Redmi Note 17 series launches with huge batteries, a more robust casing, and four models.

Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G with 9.210 mAh battery

The most striking model of the new generation is the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G. Xiaomi has equipped it with a 9.210 mAh silicon-carbon battery, which, according to the company, is the largest battery ever used in a Xiaomi smartphone for the European market. It supports charging at up to 100 watts HyperCharge, and can also be used as a wired power bank for compatible devices at up to 27 watts. Xiaomi claims a battery life of up to three days and that just 20 minutes of charging should provide enough power for a full day.

The Pro Max also tops the range technically. It boasts a 6,83-inch AMOLED display with 1,5K resolution, a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, and a stated peak brightness of 3.500 nits. An in-display fingerprint sensor is integrated into the screen. It's powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 processor, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and, in the larger storage configurations, UFS 4.1.

For the camera, Xiaomi has opted for a 50-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization, complemented by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. The front-facing camera has a 32-megapixel resolution. In addition to Google's Gemini and Circle to Search, the flagship model also offers Xiaomi's HyperAI features.

Pro models are expected to be significantly more robust.

Both the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G and the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G are IP66 and IP68 rated for dust and water resistance, respectively. Gorilla Glass Victus 2 is designed to protect the display from damage. Xiaomi also highlights SGS-certified drop tests from up to three meters onto granite. Furthermore, both Pro models carry a TÜV SÜD 5-star titanium quality certification, which tests aspects such as drop resistance, water resistance, and battery life.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G inherits many features of the flagship model. It also boasts a 6,83-inch AMOLED panel with 1,5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 3.500 nits of brightness. However, Xiaomi has opted for the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 processor. The silicon-carbon battery has a capacity of 8.340 mAh and supports 67W fast charging. The main camera also features a 50-megapixel sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS); in addition, there's an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 16-megapixel front-facing camera.

The cheaper models will get larger 6,99-inch displays.

The Redmi Note 17 5G and the regular Redmi Note 17 differ only slightly in appearance and many of their basic specifications. Both feature a 6,99-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and a peak brightness of 1.800 nits. The battery capacity is also identical at 7.700 mAh. Both devices support charging at up to 45 watts and wired reverse charging at 22,5 watts.

The main difference lies in the mobile network and the processor. The Redmi Note 17 5G uses a Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 manufactured using a 4nm process, while the Redmi Note 17 without 5G relies on the Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2. Both models feature a 50-megapixel main camera and a 16-megapixel front camera. The casing is rated IP65 instead of IP68, and the display is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i.

Xiaomi promises six years of security updates for all four smartphones. Google Gemini and Circle to Search are also integrated across the entire series. The Pro Max additionally receives a six-year "Like New Software" experience, with which Xiaomi promises the most consistent software performance possible throughout its lifespan.
