Xiaomi 17T Pro with 7000 mAh battery
The Xiaomi 17T Pro remains the flagship within the T series. Xiaomi has equipped it with a 7000 mAh silicon-carbon battery, the largest battery Xiaomi has ever used in a smartphone outside of China.
Compared to the Xiaomi 15T Pro, which was equipped with a 5500 mAh battery, the capacity increases by approximately 27 percent. It charges at up to 100 watts via cable or 50 watts wirelessly. Additionally, the device supports PPS-compatible third-party power adapters and wired reverse charging at up to 22,5 watts.
The chip is the MediaTek Dimensity 9500, manufactured using a 3nm process. The octa-core processor reaches clock speeds of up to 4,21 GHz and combines a Mali-G1 Ultra GPU with the NPU 990. According to Xiaomi, CPU performance increases by 32 percent and GPU performance by 33 percent compared to the previous generation.
The SoC is supported by 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM with 9600 Mbps and UFS 4.1 storage. Variants with 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB of storage are offered.
Xiaomi is using a Leica 5x telephoto camera with 50 megapixels, optical image stabilization, and a 115mm focal length in both devices for the first time. The telephoto camera supports macro photography from 30 centimeters and up to 120x AI ultra-zoom. In addition, there is a 50-megapixel main camera with a large 1/1,31-inch Light Fusion 950 sensor, f/1.67 aperture, and Leica Summilux optics, as well as a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with a 120-degree field of view.
The 17T Pro records videos in 8K at 30 fps and in 4K at up to 120 fps. HDR10+ recording, a dedicated "Movie Mode" and 4K Log recording are also possible.
The Xiaomi 17T is more compact, but remains technically close to the Pro model.
The regular Xiaomi 17T is more compact than the 17T Pro this time around. Its casing measures 157,6 × 75,2 × 8,17 millimeters and weighs 200 grams. In contrast, the 17T Pro measures 162,2 × 77,5 × 8,25 millimeters and weighs 219 grams. Both devices are IP68 dustproof and waterproof.
Many features of the Pro model are also found in the standard model. It also features a Leica 5x telephoto camera with 50 megapixels, OIS, and 120x AI zoom. However, the main camera uses a smaller 1/1,55-inch Light Fusion 800 sensor with an f/1.7 aperture. The ultrawide and front cameras are largely identical to those of the Pro model.
The Xiaomi 17T is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra, manufactured using a 4nm process. This octa-core processor reaches clock speeds of up to 3,4 GHz and is supported by a Mali-G720 MC8 GPU and the NPU 880 for AI calculations. According to Xiaomi, GPU performance is approximately 25 percent higher than its predecessor. The platform is complemented by 12 GB of fast LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 flash storage.
Xiaomi has installed a slightly smaller 6500 mAh battery using silicon-carbon technology. It charges via cable at up to 67 watts. Wireless charging is not supported.
New Leica Live Moment function for dynamic shots
With "Leica Live Moment," Xiaomi introduces a new camera feature that captures short sequences of movement immediately before the shutter is released. This is intended to create more dynamic shots with more context and natural motion. The feature works across all focal lengths and, according to Xiaomi, remains true to the typical Leica image style. Portrait mode is also supported.
Xiaomi is expanding the feature on the Xiaomi 17T Pro to include "Live Cinematography," which allows users to record live moments in 4K resolution, including smooth zoom effects. This feature will be activated via an OTA update starting May 28, 2026.
AMOLED displays with up to 3500 nits and quadruple TÜV certification
Both smartphones use AMOLED displays with 1,5K resolution and a peak brightness of up to 3500 nits. The Xiaomi 17T Pro features a 6,83-inch panel with 2772 × 1280 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. The Xiaomi 17T uses a more compact 6,59-inch display with 2756 × 1268 pixels and a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz.
Xiaomi also features a new eye-care system called "Xiaomi Vision Care." This system adjusts brightness and color reproduction to ambient light and circadian rhythms, and is designed to reduce blue light, flicker, and motion blur. According to Xiaomi, the Xiaomi 17T series is the first to receive quadruple TÜV Rheinland certification for eye protection. The Pro model can also dim down to 1 nit.
HyperOS, AI features and connectivity
On the software side, both devices run Xiaomi HyperOS and integrate various AI functions under the name "Xiaomi HyperAI." Supported features include Google Gemini and Circle to Search. The Xiaomi 17T Pro receives five years of Android updates, while the Xiaomi 17T will receive new Android versions for four years. Both models will receive security updates for a total of six years.
In terms of connectivity, the Xiaomi 17T Pro supports Wi-Fi 7, while the Xiaomi 17T offers Wi-Fi 6E. Both models feature Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, extensive 5G support, and dual-SIM and eSIM functionality. Also integrated is "Xiaomi Offline Communication," which enables voice communication between two compatible devices without a mobile network.

An early release could indicate a new Xiaomi cycle
More exciting than many hardware upgrades, however, is likely to be the unusually early market launch of the Xiaomi 17T series. While Xiaomi has almost consistently presented the T series at the end of September in recent years, the 2026 launch will take place at the end of May, only about three months after the release of the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra in February.
Xiaomi has not yet officially commented on the reasons for the significant delay. However, the new schedule could indicate that the manufacturer is fundamentally restructuring its previous release cycles and aligning them more closely with the Chinese market.
It's possible, for example, that Xiaomi will present its upcoming Xiaomi 18 series internationally in the fall instead of at the beginning of the following year. This would allow Xiaomi to better align its releases with the traditional smartphone fall season, when Apple and Google also typically launch their most important devices.
