Xiaomi 17: compact and with a huge battery
The base model of the series retains a 6,3-inch display. The AMOLED panel has a resolution of 2656 × 1220 pixels, supports up to 120 Hz, and, according to the manufacturer, achieves a peak brightness of 3500 nits. The screen is protected by Xiaomi's proprietary Dragon Crystal Glass.
Despite its compact design, it packs a 7000 mAh battery, significantly outperforming competitors like the Samsung Galaxy S25 or Apple's iPhone 17 Pro. It charges with a 100-watt cable and a 50-watt wireless charger.
In terms of cameras, the Xiaomi 17 features a triple setup with Leica tuning. The main camera uses the Light Hunter 950 sensor (50 MP, f/1.7, OIS), complemented by a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 50 MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom.
Leica once again offers the "Authentic" and "Vibrant" image styles, which produce either natural or more vibrant colors. In practice, the standard model should offer a solid all-around camera that doesn't have to hide from other flagships. The 50 MP selfie camera on the front is also unusually powerful and supports 4K video.
The processor used is Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, combined with 12 or 16 GB RAM and up to 512 GB storage.
The price of the Xiaomi 17 starts at around 540 euros in China.
Xiaomi 17 Pro: Rear display and stronger zoom
Visually, the Pro is very similar to the base model, but it has one notable difference: a 2,7-inch OLED panel on the back. This additional display shows notifications, serves as a selfie viewfinder, and can display QR codes or notes. Xiaomi also advertises it with customizable watch faces, interactive widgets, and even little gadgets like a virtual panda pet.
The 17 Pro's camera features an upgrade. Instead of 3x magnification, the telephoto lens now offers 5x zoom. It also uses a slightly improved main sensor (Light Hunter 950L). The rest of the specs—a 6,3-inch main display, 50 MP front camera, and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5—remain identical.
Because the second display takes up space, the battery capacity is reduced to 6300 mAh. Charging is also possible with 100 watts wired and 50 watts wireless.
In China, the Pro starts at just under €600, while the top version with 1 TB of storage costs around €720. Whether the model will be released in Europe remains to be seen. So far, Xiaomi hasn't always released its Pro versions globally.
Xiaomi 17 Pro Max: big, heavy and with a 7500 mAh battery
Those who value display size and maximum endurance should find what they're looking for in the Pro Max. The panel grows to 6,9 inches, while the resolution drops slightly to 2608 x 1200 pixels. It also offers 120 Hertz and 3500 nits of brightness. A 2,9-inch OLED display sits on the back.
At 219 grams, the Pro Max is noticeably heavier, but it packs a 7500 mAh battery. One of the largest in a current smartphone! Like the other models, it charges with 100 watts of wired and 50 watts of wireless charging.
The camera is largely identical to the Pro model. It also uses the 50 MP Light Hunter 950L as the main sensor, along with a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 50 MP periscope telephoto lens with 5x zoom. The difference lies in the telephoto lens's faster aperture (f/2.6 instead of f/3.0). This promises even better results in low-light situations.
Prices start at around €720, with the top version with 1 TB going for around €840. This puts Xiaomi's Pro Max near the price of Samsung's Galaxy S25 Ultra, albeit with noticeably larger battery reserves.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in detail
All three models run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. According to Qualcomm, the chip is around 20 percent faster than its predecessor and up to 35 percent more efficient. There are also improvements to the GPU with ray tracing support and the NPU for AI functions.
Xiaomi has also redesigned the cooling system. Instead of the traditional vapor chamber, the company relies on a ring-shaped cold pump solution, which it claims is up to three times more efficient. This should ensure stable performance even during longer gaming sessions or AI workloads.
All major connectivity standards are on board: 5G, Wi-Fi 7, NFC, and dual SIM. However, Ultra Wideband (UWB), which Apple and Samsung are increasingly using for smart home and key functions, is missing in China.

Global version and price estimate for Europe
Traditionally, Xiaomi releases slightly modified versions of its Chinese models in Europe. Typical differences include battery capacity (often slightly smaller), charging speed, supported mobile bands, and software features such as Android Auto or eSIM.
Whether the Pro models will make it to Europe remains to be seen. In the past, Xiaomi has focused more on the standard and Ultra models. However, the additional display in the Pro series is likely to pique the interest of many buyers in Europe as well.
A significant price premium is to be expected. In addition to VAT, Xiaomi's positioning in the premium segment also contributes to higher entry-level prices. Around €800 for the standard model seems realistic, while the Pro Max is likely to come close to €1.000.
