XGIMI unveiled its new AURA 3 series at IFA 2026. With the AURA 3 Max and the AURA 3 Pro, the manufacturer is launching two new ultra-short-throw projectors that combine RGB triple lasers, 4K resolution, and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.

AURA 3 Max achieves up to 5.700 ISO lumens

The top model in the new series is the XGIMI AURA 3 Max. According to the manufacturer, it achieves a brightness of up to 5.700 ISO lumens and a native contrast of up to 8.000:1.

The AURA 3 Pro is positioned slightly below the standard model and achieves up to 4.100 ISO lumens. XGIMI specifies a native contrast ratio of up to 7.000:1 for the Pro model.

Both projectors use an RGB triple laser light source and a dynamic dual iris system. Two optical apertures regulate the amount of light entering the projector, resulting in deeper blacks and more nuanced images, especially in scenes with strong contrasts between light and dark.

The XGIMI-developed X-VISION AI image processor is used for image processing. Supported technologies include Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG, IMAX Enhanced, and Filmmaker Mode. Anti-RBE technology is also included to reduce the rainbow effect that can occur during projections.

120 inches from a distance of approximately 20 centimeters

As ultra-short-throw projectors, the AURA 3 Max and AURA 3 Pro require very little distance from the projection surface. The throw ratio is 0,163:1. For a 120-inch image, XGIMI specifies a distance of approximately 20,3 centimeters from the wall. Overall projection sizes of up to 200 inches are possible.

These two models are therefore aimed primarily at users who want a very large image in their living room without having to set up a traditional projector several meters away or mount it on the ceiling. The AURA 3, on the other hand, can be placed directly in front of the wall on a lowboard or TV stand.

At IFA, XGIMI is showcasing the AURA 3 Max, among other things, together with the motorized Ascend screen. This allows the projection surface to be extended when needed and then retracted back into the furniture or structure.

4K at 120 Hz also for gaming

One of the most important new features of the AURA 3 series is support for 4K at up to 120 Hz. XGIMI is thus targeting the projectors not only towards movies, series and sports broadcasts, but also towards gaming.

Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) are also supported. XGIMI specifies an input lag of up to one millisecond for the AURA 3 Max in the corresponding gaming mode at supported resolutions and frame rates. This is intended to minimize the delay between input and output, especially in fast-paced games.

3D content can also be played back. According to the manufacturer, two pairs of compatible 3D glasses are included. For sound, an integrated Harman Kardon speaker system with a total output of 80 watts is provided, which also supports Dolby Atmos.

Google TV directly integrated

The operating system used is Google TV. This allows streaming services and apps to be used directly via the projector, so no additional player is needed for the usual streaming services.

Another feature is the XGIMI WALL app. It allows the projection surface to be used even when no film or series is playing. For example, digital artwork and other background images can be projected onto the wall via the app.

Kickstarter starts on October 20th

The AURA 3 series will initially launch via Kickstarter. The campaign is scheduled to begin on October 20, 2026. XGIMI has set a Kickstarter price of $2.399 for the AURA 3 Max and $2.199 for the AURA 3 Pro.

Even before the official Kickstarter campaign launches, interested parties can reserve the devices via the German XGIMI website. A fully refundable deposit of €50 is required for this. Those who reserve will also receive a discount of US$200 on the later Kickstarter price.

This reduces the price of the AURA 3 Max to $2.199 when using the reservation offer. The AURA 3 Pro is priced at $1.999. The €50 deposit will be refunded after the Kickstarter campaign concludes. Shipping of the first devices is currently scheduled to begin in December 2026.
