With the ROCKSTER CROSS 2, Berlin-based manufacturer Teufel is launching a new version of its portable Bluetooth speaker. The focus is on outdoor suitability, long battery life, and improved functionality.

Robust design, IPX5 protection and new colors

The ROCKSTER CROSS 2's housing is IPX5 rated for water jets and is shockproof. Two new color options are available: "Black & Green" and "Light Gray." As with its predecessor, it features side handles and an adjustable shoulder strap. The speaker can be angled slightly for optimal coverage when placed on the floor.

2-way system with Dynamore technology

Inside is a two-way system with two 2 mm tweeters, a 20 mm woofer, and two rear passive membranes. Teufel specifies the maximum volume as 120 dB, and the frequency range extends from 98 to 50 Hz.

Additionally, the company's proprietary Dynamore technology is used, which is designed to create a wider soundstage. A switchable outdoor mode adjusts the sound for outdoor use.

Bluetooth 5.3 with AAC and Fast Pair

Wireless audio transmission is via Bluetooth 5.3. Supported features include AAC, Google Fast Pair, and a multipoint function that allows two devices to be paired simultaneously. According to the manufacturer, audio content is played lip-synchronously.

Using the so-called Party Link function, up to 100 compatible speakers from Teufel's portfolio can be wirelessly connected, including the ROCKSTER NEO, ROCKSTER GO 2, and MYND. Alternatively, stereo pairing of two ROCKSTER CROSS 2s is possible.

New operating logic and app control

Compared to its predecessor, the controls have been reorganized and centrally located on the top of the device. They are larger and easier to navigate. Alternatively, the speaker can be controlled via the Teufel Go app, which offers, among other things, an equalizer and sound adjustments.

Battery life and other features

According to Teufel, the integrated lithium-ion battery lasts up to 38 hours at 70 dB. In power-saving Eco mode, it even lasts up to 46 hours. Charging is via USB-C with up to 60 W. The speaker also functions as a power bank.

The USB-C port can also be used as a sound card for Windows and macOS systems. A 3,5 mm jack input for analog audio sources is also available.
