Door open with a glance
With the Keypad Vision, SwitchBot combines an external input pad with 3D facial recognition for the first time. Instead of a PIN or fingerprint, a quick glance into the camera is sufficient. Facial recognition uses more than 30.000 infrared points and works even in low light. The data remains stored locally and is encrypted.
The whole thing is part of the new Lock Ultra Vision Combo, which also includes the Lock Ultra. This replaces the previous Lock Pro and offers new unlocking methods in addition to facial recognition. A total of 18 options are available, including fingerprint, app, NFC cards, physical button, or traditional key. If you prefer, you can also have the lock open automatically as soon as you approach. This feature is called FastUnlock and works via Bluetooth in conjunction with the keypad.
New engine, lower noise, longer runtime
Inside the Lock Ultra, a redesigned motor rotates at 50 revolutions per minute. This allows the door to open significantly faster than the previous model. At the same time, the noise level has been reduced to 20 decibels in silent mode. A time window can be set for nighttime operation during which the lock operates particularly quietly.
SwitchBot also takes a new approach to power supply. The main battery is rechargeable and, according to the manufacturer, designed for up to nine months of operation. A CR123A backup battery is also built in. If both batteries run out, the lock can also be unlocked manually. Battery replacement is tool-free via a magnetic cover.
The lock is mounted on the inside of the door as usual. Both options are available, either with screws or adhesive. Common locking cylinders in Europe are supported, such as Europrofile, UK Oval, or Swiss Roundprofile. To visually match the door, SwitchBot includes matching adhesive films with a wood look.
Hub 3 brings order to the smart home
With the Hub 3, SwitchBot also introduces a new control center for all smart home devices. The hub is Matter-compatible and can be seamlessly integrated with Apple Home, Google Home, or Amazon Alexa. Up to 30 Matter devices can be connected simultaneously. It also supports more than 100.000 infrared codes.
In addition to the gateway function, the hub also includes its own sensors for motion, light, temperature, and humidity. Four scene buttons can be configured on the front display, which can be used to initiate individual sequences.
A rotary control on the front allows you to quickly switch between brightness, volume, or temperature, depending on which devices are connected. According to the manufacturer, the range has been significantly improved compared to the Hub Mini and is said to be approximately 200 meters.
