Bigger, lighter, better: Samsung's Fold series takes a giant step
Weighing just 215g, the Galaxy Z Fold7 is lighter than a Galaxy S25 Ultra and a full 24g lighter than the Fold6. The case measures 8,9mm when folded and just 4,2mm when unfolded.
This is made possible by a revised Armor FlexHinge, a robust frame made of Advanced Armor aluminum and a newly developed Ultra-Thin Glass that is 50% thicker than its predecessor.
Displays: More space for working and streaming
Samsung noticeably enlarges both displays:
- Main display: 8,0-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X, 1-120 Hz, 2.600 nits, without UDC (Under Display Camera), instead classic 10 MP punch-hole camera.
- Cover display: 6,5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X with 21:9 aspect ratio, Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, 10 MP selfie camera.
Both panels support Vision Booster and achieve a peak brightness of 2.600 nits, perfect for daylight use. The new screen layout is more ergonomic and offers more space for multitasking.
Camera upgrade with 200 MP and AI Boost
The Galaxy Z Fold7 adopts the camera hardware of the S25 Ultra:
- 200 MP ISOCELL HP2 main sensor (f/1.7, OIS, 24 mm equivalent)
- 10 MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom
- 12 MP Ultra Wide Angle
The setup is supported by Samsung's new ProVisual Engine, which automatically optimizes recordings both day and night. Night mode with motion analysis, 10-bit HDR video, and AI-assisted post-processing promise impressive photos and videos.
Selfies can be taken either via the 10 MP front camera or via the cover screen with dual preview.
Snapdragon 8 Elite and Galaxy AI: Power for the future
Inside is the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy , a specially optimized SoC for Samsung with significant performance improvements:
- +41% NPU
- +38% CPU
- +26% GPU compared to the Fold6
The Fold7 is available with either 12 or 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB of storage. It supports the new Galaxy AI features, including Circle to Search, Gemini Live, Generative Image Editing, Audio Eraser, and Writing and Drawing Assistant, optimized for the large screen. With One UI 8 based on Android 16, Samsung promises seven years of OS updates.
Battery & Connectivity: Proven with minor weaknesses
The battery remains at 4.400 mAh, just like the Fold6. Charging power also remains at 25 W wired, 15 W wireless, and 4,5 W reverse charging. Modern standards like Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 are also on board.
