What's new in MagicOS 9?
With MagicOS 9, HONOR presents us with an Android 15 operating system that is designed to make everyday life and work easier through artificial intelligence. Here is an overview of the five most important innovations:
1. Magic Portal
Magic Portal uses AI to analyze content on the screen and suggest appropriate actions. If you circle an object on the display, the system uses text and image recognition to determine which app or function fits. Similar to Google's "Circle to Search", but with greater personalization.
2. Magic Capsule
Magic Capsule optimizes everyday tasks such as reminders, calendar appointments and to-dos through AI-supported adjustments. The function analyzes your usage behavior and adapts accordingly. While competitors such as Samsung or Apple often integrate similar functions as static widgets, HONOR relies on dynamic and personalized support.
3. AI gallery with eraser
The new AI Gallery makes it easy to remove unwanted objects from images. A feature familiar from Google Pixel's Magic Eraser or Adobe Photoshop, but here it's faster and seamlessly integrated. Perfect for users who don't want to use external apps.
4. HONOR AI Notes
With HONOR AI Notes, meetings become smarter: minutes and summaries are created automatically and real-time translations make the function even more versatile. Although similar features are known from Google Translate or Microsoft Office, the deep integration into the operating system gives HONOR a small advantage here.
5. Personalization at the touch of a button
From a customizable desktop and lock screen to an AI-powered digital style, MagicOS 9 relies on extensive customization options. While other manufacturers often only offer predefined themes, HONOR wants to stand out through flexibility and depth of detail.
With MagicOS 9, HONOR is relying on deep AI integration that goes beyond the usual app-based solutions. While competitors such as Samsung and Google are also relying on AI, it remains to be seen whether HONOR's approach will be convincing in everyday use or whether specialized apps will ultimately remain the better choice.
What does the rollout look like?
MagicOS 9 will be launched in Europe with the HONOR Magic V3 and the HONOR Magic 6 Pro. Some users have already received the update via OTA. At the beginning of next year, the software upgrade will be expanded to other models, including presumably the devices in the HONOR Magic 5 and HONOR 200 series.
Another milestone is already planned for January. Then the HONOR Magic 7 Pro which will then be delivered directly with MagicOS 9.

According to the update policy (200 years of OS updates and 2 years of security patches), the HONOR 3 Lite should also get Android 15 (MagicOS 9).
