Rokid Glasses launch on Kickstarter and premiere at IFA 2025

Rokid has unveiled its new AR glasses, Rokid Glasses, via Kickstarter. The glasses will also be shown publicly for the first time next week at IFA 2025 in Berlin. Backers can pre-order the glasses starting at $499, with a final retail price of $599.

Hardware

At 49 grams, the Rokid Glasses are barely heavier than regular sunglasses. They're not aimed at elaborate mixed-reality experiences, but rather at practical functions for everyday life and work. While the Ray-Ban Meta relies on a camera and voice control and doesn't offer a display, Rokid displays information directly in the field of vision. This is reminiscent of Google's early experiments with Google Glass in 2013, which failed due to short battery life, weak features, and privacy concerns.

Inside the Rokid Glasses is Qualcomm's Snapdragon AR1 chip, complemented by 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. The casing is made of a magnesium-aluminum alloy with TR90 temples and is IPX4 splash-proof. Magnetically attachable prescription lenses are available for eyeglass wearers.

The display is based on Micro LED waveguide technology. It offers 480 × 398 pixels per eye, with a maximum brightness of 1.500 nits. The field of view is 23 degrees, and the virtual image distance is over six meters.

Camera and audio

A 12-megapixel camera (Sony IMX681) with a 109-degree field of view is integrated directly into the frame. In addition to photos, it supports video recording at up to 60 frames per second. Electronic image stabilization, HDR processing, and a visible status light are also included.

Rokid installs two directional speakers for audio playback. A quad microphone with AI-assisted noise cancellation is used for voice commands and phone calls.

AI features

The Rokid Glasses are primarily intended to serve as a smart assistant in everyday life. The integrated functions include:

  • Real-time translations with subtitles
  • Object recognition and scene analysis
  • Live transcription of conversations
  • Teleprompter mode for lectures
  • HUD navigation with route information display

 

The glasses are controlled via voice commands, a touchpad on the temples and buttons on the side.

Energy supply and connectivity

The glasses themselves have a 210 mAh battery. A charging case allows for up to ten additional full charges and supports fast charging. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3.

The Kickstarter campaign runs parallel to the IFA, where the glasses can be tried out from September 5 to 9, 2025.
