Roborock's entry into the outdoor sector
This move comes as little surprise. Manufacturers like ECOVACS and Dreame have already introduced their own robotic lawnmower series, demonstrating that expertise gained from household robotics can also be applied outdoors. Roborock is pursuing the same goal with precise navigation, obstacle detection, and automated workflows.
The three new machines are designed to adapt to different lawns and requirements. While the RockMow Z1 is designed for large and difficult lawns, the RockMow S1 targets medium-sized areas, and the RockNeo Q1 covers the entry-level model.
RockMow Z1: The one for extreme terrain
The top-of-the-line Z1 model is equipped with all-wheel drive, with each wheel having its own motor. Additionally, the front wheels have separate steering motors, allowing for tight cornering and improving stability on slopes. Roborock claims a gradeability of up to 80 percent. The Dynamic Suspension System helps ensure the mower achieves consistent cutting results even on uneven terrain.
The Z1 combines RTK and VSLAM technology for navigation. This allows the robot to work reliably even in shaded or angled areas. The PreciEdge blade can cut within three centimeters of walls and fences.
Roborock claims a daily performance of up to 5000 square meters. The cutting height can be adjusted electrically. Users can create custom patterns or text on the lawn via the app.
RockMow S1: The one for typical gardens
The RockMow S1 is designed for areas of up to 1000 square meters per day. Roborock's Sentisphere AI is also used for object recognition. Mapping allows for flexible boundary definition with minimal effort. The Adaptive Terrain Traversal system ensures the mower can handle slopes up to 45 percent and obstacles up to four centimeters.
With a minimum clearance width of 0,7 meters, the S1 is also suitable for gardens with narrow structures. Like the Z1, the cutting edge is XNUMX centimeters, thus reducing the need for follow-up work.
RockNeo Q1: The entry-level model
The RockNeo Q1 takes on key functions of the larger models. It is also equipped with mapping, obstacle detection, and an edge-cutting function. It can also handle slopes up to 45 percent and obstacles up to four centimeters.
A special feature is the Wildlife-Friendly Mode. The Q1 doesn't operate at night to protect nocturnal animals. It also features intelligent maintenance planning, which is designed to provide recommendations for different lawn areas.
