Design and workmanship

As soon as you unpack it, it's clear that the Roborock H60 Hub Ultra packs a punch. Including the docking station, the package weighs around 15 kg, of which the vacuum cleaner itself, including the tube and main brush, weighs only about 3 kg. This puts it in line with average weight for current models.

The top-mounted motor unit accounts for approximately 1,7 kg of weight, which slightly raises the center of gravity. This is barely noticeable during short cleaning sessions, but the top-heaviness becomes somewhat noticeable during longer use.

The motor is located at the top of the handle, which gives the vacuum cleaner its characteristic top-heavy nature.

The overall workmanship makes a high-quality impression. While there are a lot of plastic parts, they seem sturdy, the connections click into place smoothly, and nothing rattles or wobbles. The telescopic tube is made of aluminum and is adjustable in length, making the vacuum comfortable to handle for users of different heights.

The telescopic tube is pushed apart using this handle.

Unlike the version without a hub, however, the tube lacks the bending function that makes it easier to vacuum under furniture. Roborock likely deliberately omitted this feature, as the tube must be fully retracted for the hub station. With a flexible tube, the construction would have been either taller or significantly more complex.

The attachments can be stored invisibly behind the magnetic cover.

The station itself is approximately 85 cm high and has a footprint of 27 × 27 cm. It combines charging and vacuuming functions and offers space for the included attachments behind a magnetic cover. This keeps the accessories neatly stored and quickly accessible when needed.

Another advantage is that the station doesn't require wall mounting. However, in small apartments, you should consider that it will take up a bit more space than a traditional wall mount.

Myth 1: "Wireless devices are just lifestyle gadgets."

Many cordless vacuum cleaners boast a futuristic design but fall short when it comes to everyday usability. The H60 Hub Ultra demonstrates that both are possible. High-quality workmanship, robust plastic components, and a well-designed docking station make it a household appliance that looks good and is also practically designed. During our testing, nothing seemed flimsy or cheap, and even the accessories are sensibly integrated.

Handling in everyday life

In everyday use, the Roborock H60 Hub Ultra proves to be pleasantly uncomplicated. Instead of a traditional pistol grip, where you have to constantly hold the trigger, it has a separate on/off button. Press it once and the motor runs continuously, which is much more relaxing, especially during longer cleaning sessions.

An LED display is located on top of the motor unit. It's clearly laid out, allowing you to easily read the battery level, selected suction level, and other information. The three power levels are conveniently cycled through using a separate button below the display. Both the on/off button and the power level button are easily accessible with one hand using your thumb.

The LED display is easy to read and the controls are child's play.

There's no app integration or smart additional features, such as an automatic mode with dirt detection. Instead, the H60 Hub Ultra focuses on the essentials and deliberately avoids gimmicks that rarely add real value in everyday life.

One limitation, however, is the lack of a parking function. The vacuum cleaner cannot stand on its own and must be placed on the floor or leaned against a wall during breaks. This isn't always ideal in everyday life, for example, when furniture or objects have to be moved while vacuuming, requiring the vacuum to be put down briefly.

Myth 2: "Cordless vacuum cleaners are not for families."

Ease of use is especially important in everyday family life. Between spilled juice and crumbs after dinner, there's no time for lengthy reorganization. The H60 Hub Ultra shows its strengths here, as attachments can be swapped in a snap, the LED lighting reveals hidden dust, and even pet hair in the carpet is no problem. While it can't stand on its own, it's sometimes inconvenient, but it doesn't change the fact that it proves to be a reliable helper in everyday life.

Cleaning performance & brush system

With up to 210 air watts, the Roborock H60 Hub Ultra ranks among the current top models. On hard floors, the medium setting is usually sufficient to thoroughly remove dust, crumbs, or pet hair. Even fine cat litter, which tends to get stuck in crevices or gaps, disappeared in the test on the first pass.

The main brush is designed as a hybrid roller with a combination of rubber slats and bristles. Even long hair hardly gets tangled in it, which significantly reduces maintenance requirements compared to simpler brush systems.

The floor roller is gentle, soft and grippy at the same time.

Additionally, it's very maneuverable. Thanks to the joint on the floor nozzle, the vacuum cleaner is easy to maneuver, allowing you to easily reach even tight spaces under tables or between chair legs.

The whole process is supported by the green, very broad LED lighting, which makes fine dust visible, especially on dark floors. For example, it was clear that after the first pass, a thin film of dust remained under the sofa, which would have remained undetected without the light.

The bright LED floor light makes even small crumbs clearly visible.

Even on carpets, the H60 Hub Ultra demonstrates its ability to tackle tough tasks without getting caught in rugs or floor mats. In Max mode, the roller pulls noticeably forward, working even deep-seated dirt out of the fibers.

However, the battery drains significantly faster, so this setting is more suitable for occasional use. For regular carpet cleaning, the medium setting offers a better compromise between suction power and runtime.

The motorized mini brush is ideal for removing pet hair from sofa cushions or car seats.

The additional brushes significantly expand the range of applications. The motorized mini brush is ideal for vacuuming pet hair from upholstery, and the crevice nozzle with brush slider makes it easy to reach between sofa cracks or quickly vacuum cobwebs from the ceiling. The plug-in system allows for quick and easy swapping of attachments.

Myth 3: "Cordless vacuum cleaners have no power."

Before testing, I was skeptical about whether the H60 really had the power to clean carpets thoroughly. But the first pass over the living room carpet proved that crumbs and even pet hair were no problem. Even stubborn spots where cat litter had settled were clean in just a few seconds. Moments like these make you realize that cordless no longer means "compromising." The H60 has enough power to be in no way inferior to corded vacuums.

Battery life & volume

Roborock promises a runtime of up to 90 minutes in Eco mode for the H60 Hub Ultra. This value was roughly confirmed in testing. On the lowest setting, the battery is sufficient to vacuum a small family home in one go. Switching to the medium setting brings the runtime to approximately 30 minutes, which is also perfectly adequate for most applications.

The battery is plugged in and can be completely removed.

In Max mode, the H60 Hub Ultra delivers its full suction power, but the battery drains in less than ten minutes. This setting is practical for spot cleaning, such as heavily soiled carpets or larger crumbs, but it's not ideal for cleaning entire living spaces. After a full discharge, it takes about four hours to fully recharge the battery. However, it can be replaced if necessary, which can extend its operating time.

At approximately 75 decibels, the H60's noise level is within the typical range for powerful cordless vacuum cleaners. In Eco mode, the operating noise is relatively discreet and suitable for a living room; at higher settings, it becomes significantly more noticeable, but without being unpleasantly shrill. In direct comparison to corded vacuum cleaners, the overall noise level is moderate.

Extraction station (hub)

The docking station automatically empties the dust container and collects the dirt in a 3-liter bag. While the suction is somewhat loud, the container is empty in just a few seconds. This is a noticeable convenience, especially for allergy sufferers or households with pets, as there's no direct contact with dust.

However, the test also showed that the container doesn't always empty completely. Hair or fibrous dirt, in particular, occasionally gets stuck in the container and must then be removed by hand.

The suction can also be operated manually using this button on the suction station.

The station automatically starts vacuuming as soon as the vacuum is inserted. You can also deactivate the process using the button on the dock. If you hold it down for a few seconds, the light will flash several times, indicating that automatic vacuuming is deactivated.

However, one minor design flaw remains. The button remains lit white, making it impossible to tell at first glance whether the function is currently active or deactivated. A color coding, such as a red light, would have been helpful here.

 Myth 4: "Cleaning is tedious."

Emptying the dust container was long considered a weak point of cordless vacuum cleaners. With the H60 Hub Ultra, this step is almost completely eliminated. After vacuuming, the dust is automatically sucked into the bag. Especially when dealing with crumbs after dinner or cat litter in the entryway, it was convenient to simply place the device in the station without having to empty the container directly into your hand. While some hair occasionally remains, the station noticeably reduces the amount of cleaning required.

Sustainability & Future-Proofness

Cordless vacuum cleaners are often criticized for losing power after a few years and then ending up in the electronic waste. Roborock has a few approaches to counteract this. Among other things, the battery is not permanently installed, but can be replaced in a few simple steps. If you need a replacement later or want to double the running time, you can simply install a second battery instead of replacing the entire device.

Maintenance is also well thought out. The filters and dust container can be removed and cleaned underwater, eliminating the need to regularly replace them. This reduces follow-up costs and extends the lifespan of the components.

The container, filter and battery can be removed from the motorized upper part for cleaning.

The station's bags were surprisingly durable in our tests. Even after two weeks of intensive use, the first bag wasn't even close to being full. For an average household, one bag should last several months, though for households with furry pets, it'll last a bit less. With a capacity of 3 liters, the bags are generously sized, so they rarely need replacing.

However, the supply of spare parts is not yet fully developed. At the time of testing, neither batteries nor filters were available as accessories. However, experience has shown that Roborock is quick to supply such products, so suitable spare parts can be expected soon.

Myth 5: "Cordless vacuum cleaners are not sustainable."

This particular criticism has plagued cordless vacuums for years. The H60 Hub Ultra's test showed a different picture: A replaceable battery extends its service life, washable filters prevent unnecessary waste, and even after two weeks of intensive vacuuming, the dust bag was still almost empty. This indicates that it can last for several months in many households. The system doesn't operate entirely without consumables, but compared to many competitors, Roborock has noticeably thought about sustainability.

Price-performance & competitor comparison

With a recommended retail price of €499, the Roborock H60 Hub Ultra ranks in the upper mid-range. Given its features, including powerful suction, an automatic vacuum station, and overall well-thought-out operation, this price seems quite reasonable. The model is likely to be available in stores soon for a lower price, making the overall package even more attractive.

A look at the competition shows that Roborock offers good value for money here. A Dyson V15 Detect, with 240 air watts, offers slightly more suction power and automatic dirt detection, but with the vacuum station, costs well over €700. Dreame goes even further with the Z40, delivering up to 310 air watts, but costs around €899. The H60 Hub Ultra ranks slightly lower in terms of performance, but offers similar everyday usability at a noticeably lower price.

There are some minor compromises in terms of weight. At approximately 3 kilograms including the tube and brush, the H60 is slightly heavier than comparable models from Dyson or Miele. However, it impresses with a maneuverable brush system that's easy to maneuver even in tight spaces and with Roborock's signature, very tidy docking solution.

CONCLUSION

With the H60 Hub Ultra, Roborock demonstrates that the manufacturer intends to be taken seriously not only in the field of robot vacuums, but also in the field of cordless vacuums. In testing, the device impressed with its powerful suction power, convenient dust collection station, and well-thought-out operation. It particularly demonstrates its strengths in everyday use, whether in family households, with pet owners, or simply wherever regular vacuuming is required.

Points of criticism remain the lack of a parking function, the noise level of the vacuum station, and the currently limited availability of spare parts. Even the maximum setting drains the battery very quickly, making it only suitable for occasional use. Overall, however, the H60 Hub Ultra delivers a well-rounded package that's hard to beat in its price range and puts noticeable pressure on other premium manufacturers like Dyson.
