A generational phenomenon returns!
It was THE cult phone of the late 90s and early 2000s - the Nokia 3210. Exactly 25 years ago, in 1999, the Finnish company brought the iconic mobile phone onto the market, which quickly became a huge success. Hundreds of millions of people around the world were using the 3210 and its pre-installed game, Snake. The sturdy, bulky cell phone with its distinctive shape and interchangeable back cover designs shaped an entire generation. For many, it was their first mobile phone ever.
Now the cult icon is celebrating its big comeback! Human Mobile Devices (HMD), the current licensee for Nokia smartphones, is releasing a modern new edition of the 25 to celebrate its 3210th anniversary. However, with a special focus: The new “dumbphone” is intended to keep people away from their smartphone screens and enable them to take a break from the constant stress of the digital world.
The retro trend and the growing “digital detox” movement are currently fueling the great demand for simple mobile or “dumbphones” without distracting apps and Internet access. HMD recognized this trend and took up the cult demand for the Nokia 3210. The new model is aimed specifically at nostalgic fans as well as customers who are looking for a break from smartphone overwhelm.
The modern 3210 deliberately retains the original retro design from 1999 and is available in three bold shades of Scuba Blue, Grunge Black and Y2K Gold - just like the original models back in the day. Instead of a crowded smartphone operating system, it comes very simply with just the basics: calls, SMS, a 2MP camera with flash/flashlight and - of course! - the cult game Snake to hunt for points for a new high score.
For the connection today, at least 4G connectivity is integrated for clear conversations. And with a large 1450 mAh battery for up to 9,5 hours of talk time, the cult cell phone doesn't have to worry about a battery leak during the next festival season. The retro new edition of the Nokia 3210 will only cost 79 euros - a tempting price for nostalgics and digital detox fans alike.
