Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi Pad Pro. The new mid-range tablet is intended to shake up the mid-range with a large 12,1-inch display, a fast Snapdragon chip and a generous battery.

Large 120 Hz display as a highlight

While many mid-range tablets rely on 10 or 11 inches, Xiaomi has given the Redmi Pad Pro a 12,1-inch IPS display. With a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, which Xiaomi describes as 2,5K, and a refresh rate of 120 Hz, it promises a sharp and smooth image.

Up to 600 nits of brightness should also enable outdoor use, and Gorilla Glass 3 protects against scratches. Overall, a very good display package, even if an OLED panel would probably have offered better contrast.

Snapdragon power and large battery

The slim housing houses the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, which, according to Xiaomi, delivers significantly more performance than the previous chip. There is also 6 or 8 GB of RAM and expandable 128 or 256 GB of storage.

The software already runs on HyperOS based on Android 14. Major operating system updates will be available for two years, up to and including Android 16. Xiaomi promises security patches for a period of three years.

The 10.000 mAh battery should enable long runtimes, but it doesn't charge very quickly at a maximum of 33 watts. A suitable power supply is missing from the scope of delivery.

The tablet is available in Graphite Gray, Mint Green and Ocean Blue.

Solid equipment with small weaknesses

Otherwise, the Redmi Pad Pro's features are solid, but not outstanding. The quad speakers with Dolby Atmos promise good sound, the cameras with 8 MP each are average at best, but should be completely sufficient for video telephony. It's a shame: a fingerprint sensor is missing as a security feature.

The tablet is the first from Redmi to support a stylus with 4096 pressure levels. A keyboard case is also offered. However, both cost extra.

The price starts at 299,90 euros for the small model with 128 GB of storage. With 256 GB it costs 349,90 euros and the pen and keyboard cost 69,90 and 99,90 euros respectively.
