More precisely, it is a tablet from the Redmi subsidiary brand, which is considered a price-conscious brand for young people. Update 02. June 2020

There is news about the Redmi Pad 5G! A product entry has appeared on the Chinese e-commerce platform “Pinduoduo” that names a possible sales start for the Redmi tablet. Accordingly, the tablet could be presented at the beginning of June and go on sale on June 21st. Of course, such entries should always be treated with caution.

It remains exciting whether Redmi will soon surprise us with a tablet. After all, short-term release events are not uncommon for Xiaomi. The next Xiaomi event will take place on June 11th!

The next Xiaomi event is just around the corner. According to the current status, Xiaomi will present the Mi 27 Youth smartphone and the new MIUI 10 user interface on April 12th. Most of the time, the manufacturer also uses such events to present new, previously unannounced products. A current leak suggests that the subsidiary brand Redmi also has a new product up its sleeve. A teaser shows the Redmi Pad 5G. A tablet with 5G cellular network.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G

It's not just the 5G support that's interesting. The teaser reveals further functions. Accordingly, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G mobile processor is installed. The chip is placed in the upper middle class. A total of 8 Kryo 475 cores are divided into two clusters. The performance cluster consists of a fast “prime core” and a gold core based on Cortex-A76, which clock at up to 2.4 GHz. The power saving cluster is made up of 6 Cortex-A55 cores with a clock speed of 1.8 GHz. Depending on the load, the performance is distributed across the clusters. This makes efficient work possible.

As a processor of the Qualcomm Gaming series, the chip's Adreno 620 GPU is optimized for mobile games. Current games can be played smoothly throughout. The teaser does not reveal what the memory configuration is like. The memory types supported by the chip are LPDDR4X main memory and eMMC5.1 or UFS3.0 data memory. There is also no further information on the possibility of memory expansion. So it remains exciting!

90 Hz display

The display plays a crucial role in a tablet. Nothing is known about the display diagonal, the resolution and the display type. One can only guess that an 8 or 10 inch display with FHD + resolution awaits us here. The display type is most likely IPS. However, what is known and which makes technology hearts beat faster is the refresh rate of 90 Hz. This means that content is displayed extremely smoothly, which significantly increases the user experience.

48 MP camera

Tablets are usually at war with their cameras. In contrast to smartphones, tablets often only have the most necessary camera sensors installed. The Redmi Pad 5G will likely take a slightly different path. A 48 MP smartphone-level camera is being teased. The camera AI integrated in MIUI 12 is supposed to further improve photos and videos. A razor-sharp video telephony would be ensured! So that the sound experience is not neglected when making calls or watching a movie, the new Redmi tablet offers a stereo loudspeaker.

30 watt quick charge function

Tablets often have large batteries installed. Compared to a smartphone, the charging process takes significantly longer. Redmi wants to counteract this and relies on a 30 watt fast charging function. We don't know how big the battery is. Assuming that an average 6000 mAh battery is installed, it would be estimated to be charged to 40 percent in just 50 minutes.

assessment

The last Xiaomi tablet came out in 2018. It would be perfectly fitting if Xiaomi were to surprise us with a new tablet in 2020. The price is particularly interesting. The tablet should cost just 1999 yuan. Converted that corresponds to 260 euros. Considering the equipment, that would be an unbeatable price. With a possible market launch of the Redmi Pad 5G in Europe, the price would of course look a little different.
