Update 22. December 2021

The realme GT 2 Series Special Event on December 20th was a bit sobering for many. A back made of bio-polymer material, a 150 ° ultra-wide-angle camera and the innovation Forward Communication from realme were presented, but no one learned what the smartphone ultimately looks like.

realme GT 2 Series Innovation Forward

As confirmed by realme today, the GT 2 Series will be presented on January 04th in China. Some realme country channels also communicate this date as the global start of the smartphone series.

It is not clear whether the smartphone will be launched in China and the rest of the world at the same time. A request from realme Germany has also remained unanswered so far.

realme GT 2 Pro smartphone design back

There is also interesting news about the design of the realme GT 2 Pro. The Italian VOGUE was the first magazine to publish pictures for smartphones.

With the leaks that appeared a few weeks ago, which presented the smartphone with a wide camera hump (see below), the official design has very little to do with and is much more reminiscent of the last published one realme GT Neo2. It will be exciting to see what realme will show us on January 04th!

Already on December 1st Madhav Sheth (realme VP) on Twitter that the new realme GT2 Pro will be a high-end smartphone with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and that we will find out more about it in December. An exact date was not known to date.

However, there was a new hint today. A teaser has appeared on the official realme UK Twitter account stating the presentation of the realme GT2 Series on December 20th. The tweet has since been deleted because it was likely to be published later. Chinese sources have also confirmed the date via Weibo.

The form in which the event will be held is not yet known. It is probably not a specific launch event, but a live stream presentation on all social media platforms that secures a place in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 race for realme.

realme GT2 Pro teaser

Chinese sources suspect that the smartphone won't hit the market until next year, but before the Chinese Spring Festival (February 01st). It is also interesting that the teaser speaks of a realme GT2 series. In addition to the realme GT2 Pro, there will in all likelihood be a slimmed-down Lite model or a special edition. It is also exciting to see what the other hardware equipment of the realme GT2 Pro will look like.

Snapdragon 8 Gen1

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is the new high-end system-on-chip from Qualcomm. Manufactured using the 4nm process for the first time and based on ARM's v9 architecture, the SoC promises a lot of performance with high efficiency. The new Adreno 700 series, which provides more performance in graphic applications and games, also promises a lot of potential. There is also news in the field of smartphone photography. The image processors can handle up to 18-bit and enable high-resolution 8K HDR recordings. Also new is the sensing hub, with which Qualcomm has implemented an always-on camera, among other things.

  • Camera good or not so?

  • I'm curious how Realme handles the IMX766. With OnePlus it works quite well. When can I expect your test?

    • That would interest me too. It's supposed to come out on Monday.

  • The presentation will be on February 28.2th. be in Barcelona. (also via YouTube)
The display was incorrectly described in the text because the GT2 Pro has an E5 Samsung panel.
As an old Xiaomi fan, I will treat myself to the GT2 Pro. I'm really convinced of the value for money.
It will be from 10.3. be available from us.

    LG Mike

    • Hi Mike, thanks for the info. I did some research again and can't find any evidence that an E5 panel is installed. Chinese colleagues who have already tested the GT 2 Pro speak of a Samsung E4 panel. The peak brightness of 4 nits would also speak for the E1400. The devices with E5 panel usually have 1500+ nits.

      • Marsupi

I will buy it too and have read some reviews about it. It's definitely not an E5, it's the E4. They have to keep the price down somehow.

  • Is it already foreseeable when the devices will be available in this country?

    • Hi Erik, the German realme press agency has already announced the market launch in Europe, but has not yet been able to give a specific date. I expect we'll know more between late February and mid-March. Experience has shown that the global publication period is around two months behind the Chinese one.

      • I'm guessing March. India gets it whrsl. in February and we then 3 weeks later.

  • Blissful

If the GT 2 Pro comes to us for a similar price, then it's bought directly! Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, the display and the 50 + 50 camera are sure to hit the mark.
