Early launch, two models likely
Xiaomi will once again unveil two devices at launch: the POCO F8 Pro and the POCO F8 Ultra. Whether a standard model will follow later is currently unknown.
As usual, the latest Redmi flagships serve as the technical basis. The Redmi K90 forms the basis for the POCO F8 Pro, while the Redmi K90 Pro Max is expected to be almost identical to the POCO F8 Ultra, including the design, camera setup, and the characteristic wide camera bump.
Snapdragon 8 Elite in the Pro, Gen 5 in the Ultra
A recently surfaced Geekbench entry clearly identifies the POCO F8 Ultra as a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 device. The F8 Pro is currently expected to use the regular Snapdragon 8 Elite. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and an IR blaster.
This places Xiaomi's new series much closer to the upper flagship class, without entering the high price range of the Xiaomi 17 models.
Displays: Large panels, high brightness
If Xiaomi sticks with the Redmi template setup, then the following key specifications for the display will apply:
- F8 Ultra: 6,9-inch OLED, 2608 × 1200 pixels, 120 Hz, up to 3.500 nits HDR peak
- F8 Pro: 6,59-inch OLED, 2510 × 1156 pixels, also 120 Hz
According to official POCO teasers, both panels offer ultra-brightness, high sampling rates, and 12-bit color reproduction. A 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is located beneath the display in each case.
Bose sound and new denim look confirmed
Xiaomi has already publicly revealed the Ultra's biggest unique selling point: a built-in 2.1 stereo system with a subwoofer, tuned in collaboration with Bose. This puts sound visibly in the spotlight for the new POCO series for the first time.
The latest teasers also confirm the striking denim finish, which was already speculated about for the Redmi K90 Pro Max. The textured variant is also expected to be released globally.
Camera setup: Three 50-megapixel cameras in the Ultra
Here, Xiaomi strictly adheres to the current Redmi models:
POCO F8 Ultra
- 50 MP main camera (Light Fusion 950, 1/1,31", OIS)
- 50 MP ultra wide angle (102°, f/2.4)
- 50 MP Periscope telephoto lens (5× optical, OIS)
- 32 MP front camera
LITTLE F8 Pro
- 50 MP main camera (Light Fusion 800, 1/1,55", OIS)
- 8 MP Ultra Wide Angle
- 50 MP Telephoto (2,5× optical)
- 20 MP front camera
Both models are expected to deliver 8K video at 30 fps, as well as 4K/60 and high-FPS slow motion.
Batteries: EU versions likely smaller
The Chinese K90 devices boast enormous silicon-carbon batteries exceeding 7.000 mAh. However, reduced capacities are expected for the global POCO devices. The POCO F8 Ultra is anticipated to have a battery of approximately 6.500 mAh. The POCO F8 Pro will likely have a slightly smaller capacity.
Both devices should support 100W wired fast charging. Additionally, the F8 Ultra could support 50W wireless charging and 22,5W reverse wireless charging.
Prices: Still pure speculation
The predecessors started at €699 (Ultra) and €469 (Pro). Based on Xiaomi's recent pricing strategy, slightly higher starting prices are possible. As usual, however, POCO will likely counteract this quickly with coupons and launch discounts.
