Design and workmanship
With dimensions of 309,41 × 201,49 × 7,9 mm and a weight of around 750 grams, the OSCAL Pad 200 is surprisingly slim for its screen size. In the hand, it feels less bulky than the raw numbers would suggest, especially compared to classic 12- or 13-inch Windows tablets.
The metal casing features clean lines and straight edges. The design is functional and understated, without any visual embellishments. The Space Grey and Glacier Blue color options emphasize its practical character. Considering the price, the workmanship and material transitions are acceptable. No pressure marks or creaking noises were observed during testing.
The optional accessories are a different story. The keyboard, stylus, and mouse are mostly made of cheap plastic and appear significantly less well-made. The keyboard, in particular, lacks the stability and typing feel of higher-quality alternatives, thus not quite matching the solid impression of the tablet itself. The stylus is also merely a passive device with a rubber cap, offering no functionality whatsoever.
Despite its size, the tablet remains easily portable and is perfectly suited for mobile use. However, its weight becomes noticeable during extended handheld use. The Pad 200 truly shines when used in landscape mode on a table or in combination with a keyboard and mouse, where it feels more like a compact laptop replacement.
Display
The Pad 200's key feature is its 13,4-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1200 x 1920 pixels. While the pixel density is lower than that of high-end premium tablets, it proves perfectly adequate for everyday use. Text is displayed sharply, UI elements appear clean, and even extended use remains comfortable. The colors tend to be on the cooler side, and there's room for improvement in brightness.
One of its positive features is the 120 Hz refresh rate, which, combined with 240 Hz touch sampling and the fully laminated TDDI panel, provides a noticeably smooth user experience. Scrolling, multitasking, and animations appear significantly more fluid than on classic 60 Hz tablets in this price range.
The display is also well-suited for extended use. TÜV SÜD certification for reduced blue light and various eye comfort modes help to minimize eye strain. Even after several hours, the display remains comfortable and fatigue-free.
Compared to a typical 10-inch tablet, the Pad 200 offers around 76 percent more usable display area, which is particularly noticeable in split-screen scenarios, document editing and research.
Multimedia and Audio
Thanks to Widevine L1 certification, the Pad 200 supports 1080p streaming on Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+. The picture quality remains stable without automatic downscaling.
The speakers deliver a balanced sound. Voices are clear, treble is crisp, and while the bass is naturally limited, it's sufficient for TV series, videos, and occasional gaming. For a tablet in this price range, the audio performance is mediocre.
Cameras
The camera setup remains functional. A 16 MP sensor is used on the back, and an 8 MP camera on the front, both with 1080p video recording.
For video calls, online classes, document scans, and occasional photos, the quality is sufficient. Colors appear natural, detail is good, and as expected, sharpness decreases in low light. Features like Face Unlock and Google Lens enhance its everyday usability.
Performance and everyday life
Inside, the Unisoc Tiger T7280, an octa-core SoC with two Cortex-A75 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores, combined with a Mali-G57 GPU, is at work. Its performance falls into the lower mid-range category.
In everyday use, the system proves to be stable and smooth. Apps launch quickly, multitasking remains controlled, and simple games run smoothly with reduced detail settings. The 120 Hz display noticeably contributes to the perceived speed.
The 6 GB of RAM can be virtually expanded, which significantly improves system performance, especially when running many apps simultaneously. The 128 or 256 GB of internal storage can be expanded up to 2 TB via microSD card, a feature that is by no means standard in this device class.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-SIM support and full 4-in-1 navigation with GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou, making the Pad 200 flexible for use on the go.
Software: DokeOS 5.0
DokeOS 5.0 is based on Android 16 and is one of the Pad 200's strongest selling points. The interface is clean, stable, and functional.
There is a PC Mode 3.0 that enables freely resizable windows, a dock bar, simultaneous app use, and quick switching between tablet and desktop views. Combined with a keyboard and mouse, this creates a remarkably productive work environment for office tasks, research, and email management.
Split-screen 2.0, a redesigned control center, and context-based notifications round out the positive impression. Privacy features like Private Space and app locks are also sensibly integrated. OSCAL hasn't specified how long Android updates will be available.
AI features
With Doke AI 2.0, OSCAL also integrates a comprehensive AI platform. The combination of DeepSeek-R1, ChatGPT-4o mini, and Gemini enables voice assistants, text and image generation, summaries, translations, and creative tools.
Apps like Hi Doki, ImageX, VidGen, and Soundle are less geared towards professionals, but offer real added value for school, university, and creative applications without being obtrusive. You can use them, but you don't have to. All of the apps mentioned require a subscription to access their full range of features.
Battery and running time
The 8300 mAh battery provides solid battery life, easily covering a full workday with mixed use (office applications, streaming, web browsing). The screen-on time is approximately 7 hours. Intelligent power-saving modes optimize standby times.
Charging is done at 18 watts. This is sufficient, but not particularly fast, and takes approximately 4 hours. If charged overnight, the tablet is ready to use again the next day.
price and variants
The OSCAL Pad 200 is offered in two storage variants, which are otherwise technically identical. Both models feature the same 13,4-inch 120 Hz display, the Unisoc Tiger T7280 processor, 6 GB of RAM, DokeOS 5.0 based on Android 16, and the same accessories.
The only difference is the internal storage. Both models can be expanded up to 2 TB via microSD card.
