OPPO extends Hasselblad partnership, but in Germany it remains a vacuum

After months of silence, OPPO is back with a new press release. Not with a smartphone launch for Germany, however, but with an extension of its collaboration with Hasselblad. The camera collaboration is expected to result in a new imaging system that will further advance smartphone photography. For German customers, however, this remains only theoretical for the time being.

Cooperation with Hasselblad continues

At an event in Gothenburg, Sweden, OPPO announced the continuation of its strategic partnership with Hasselblad. The two companies have been working together on the Find series camera systems for four years.

The collaboration brought features like Hasselblad Portrait Mode, XPAN Wide-Angle Style, and the Natural Color Solution to OPPO smartphones. Now, a new system is being developed that, according to OPPO, will offer "the ultimate imaging experience."

OPPO shows drive for innovation

With the latest Find X8 Ultra, OPPO achieved the top spot in DXOMARK. The camera, featuring a Penta-System camera system, AI bokeh engine, and 16-bit RAW support, received a score of 169 points, higher than any other device in the DXOMARK protocol. In theory, this is a strong sign of OPPO's ambitions in the imaging sector. In practice, this remains largely unmet in Germany.

Between signs of life and standstill

Although OPPO has officially been authorized to sell products in Germany again since the end of the patent dispute with Nokia, there is little sign of the promised comeback in early 2025. The German website still only shows a note stating that no product information is available. Devices like the Find N2 Flip or the Reno 8 series are completely missing.

While OnePlus, also part of the BBK Group, continues to actively sell its devices in Germany, OPPO remains focused on PR activities without products.
