Thinner and better protection
What is particularly noticeable visually is the Enduro's minimized form factor. With a case thickness of just 11,9 millimeters, it is 0,25 millimeters thinner than that TicWatch Pro 5. This sounds like a small thing, but it makes for a slightly slimmer and more comfortable fit on the wrist. The weight of 44 grams, however, remains unchanged.
Instead of Gorilla Glass from Corning, the new model uses sapphire crystal to protect the display. This should provide better protection against scratches and therefore be better equipped for outdoor adventures. The water protection up to 5 ATM, i.e. around 50 meters deep, has remained the same.
Longer battery life with the same hardware
The battery life has been improved. Instead of a maximum of 80 hours in smartwatch mode, it is now up to 90 hours and in the energy-saving Essential mode the running time increases from 45 to 55 days. This is made possible by the two-screen solution known from the TicWatch Pro 5 with an energy-efficient second display.
However, little has changed technically under the hood. The Enduro uses the same Snapdragon Wear 5100+ chip and 2 GB of RAM as the Pro 5. Bluetooth is still the only connectivity option. Unfortunately, LTE did not make it into the new model.
The fitness functions don't change much either. GPS tracking, pulse measurement, blood oxygen monitoring and expanded sleep tracking with snoring detection are familiar from the Pro 5. Only a few new workout types such as cross-country skiing or crunches have been added.
Old Wear OS 3.5
What's sobering is that the Enduro continues to run Google's aging smartwatch platform Wear OS 3.5 - including a limited app selection from the Play Store. Mobvoi is a long way from Wear OS 4 or the Wear OS 5 expected this summer. There is no concrete update plan.
Owners of the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra had to wait over a year for the Wear OS 3 upgrade. There is a fear that history will repeat itself in Enduro.

assessment
With a price of 359,99 euros, the TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro starts at the same price as the Pro 5. However, the predecessor is currently available for 100 euros less, which is why you have to ask yourself whether the extra charge for the mini upgrade is even worth it .
In addition, manufacturers such as Samsung, Google and OnePlus are significantly faster at distributing new Wear OS updates. They should distribute the update to Wear OS 5 in late summer.
