Zoom, AI and a touch of flagship
Probably the biggest innovation in the Phone (3a) series concerns the camera. Nothing will be the first to use a 50 MP periscope camera, which offers a 3x optical zoom, a 6x in-sensor zoom and a 60x ultra zoom.
Thanks to AI-supported focus optimization, even macro shots should be razor-sharp. Portraits with a focal length of 70 mm should also be possible in the best quality thanks to the new camera system.
More light, less noise
In addition to the new zoom technology, Nothing has also tweaked the main camera. The 50 MP main sensor can capture 64% more light per pixel than the previous model Phone (2a). The full well capacity has even been increased by 300%, which in plain language means better low-light shots, more details and less image noise.
On top of that, all camera sensors support Ultra HDR, while the main and front cameras can record in 4K with stabilization and night optimization.
Flagship camera at a mid-range price?
In a community update, Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis had already explained that the (a) series is aimed at users who do not need high-end specifications but still want a top user experience with a focus on camera, display, performance and design.
According to current leaks, the Phone (3a) series will be released in two variants:
- Nothing Phone (3a) 5G (Black/White) – 8/128GB & 12/256GB storage options
- Nothing Phone (3a) Pro 5G (Grey) – 12/256 GB storage
Both models are said to feature a 6,7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, although there are also rumors of a smaller (6,1-6,2 inches) and a larger (6,8-inch) variant.
And what about the chip? Here, Nothing has confirmed that the Phone (3a) series will rely on Qualcomm instead of MediaTek. Nothing has not yet revealed which chip will be installed. Rumors say it will be a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3.
Design remains Nothing-typical, battery grows
Visually, Nothing will most likely stay true to itself. Transparent back, glyph lighting and a minimalist design. A leak suggests that the phone (3a) will come with a 5.000 mAh battery and 45W fast charging. Whether wireless charging will finally be on board remains to be seen, but it would be a strong upgrade.
What awaits us on March 4th?
With the new camera technology and the upgraded specs, the Nothing Phone (3a) could be a real statement in the mid-range. We will know whether the rumors are true by March 4th at 11:00 a.m. CET at the latest, when the new series is officially presented.
