Return to numbering
After Nothing launched the previous model in 2024 simply as "Nothing Ear" (our Test), the company is now returning to the numerical order. The designation Ear (3) is intended to clearly identify the generations and link the series to Ear (1) and Ear (2).
Design with aluminum and new antenna
Visually, Nothing remains true to its transparent design language, but expands it with metal elements. According to the manufacturer, the charging case is made entirely of anodized, recycled aluminum and has a more ergonomic shape. Nothing thus incorporates elements from the Headphone (1), which already utilized aluminum.
A significant innovation concerns the antenna in the earbuds. It is based on a flat metal structure just 0,35 millimeters thick, ensuring a stable wireless connection while maintaining a slim design.
Design Director Adam Bates describes the approach as follows: "With Ear (3), we have consistently evolved our design language – focusing on the essentials: the technology and the experience. The result is a product that stands out clearly in terms of both appearance and feel and functions in a way that is completely new in the industry. The choice of materials and processes, especially the use of aluminum for the housing and antenna, has enabled a product that is undoubtedly new – yet unmistakably Nothing."
outlook
Nothing plans to announce details on drivers, codecs, battery life, and active noise canceling on September 18. Only then will it become clear how the Ear (3) technically differs from its predecessors.
