GOAT robotic lawnmower in 3rd generation
With the GOAT G1 (our GOAT G1 Test), ECOVACS ventured into the robotic lawnmower market for the first time in 2023. The device was intended to offer an alternative to classic boundary wire models and relied on wireless navigation with RTK and camera technology.
This generated a lot of interest, but the GOAT G1 still had a lot of teething issues, especially with navigation and obstacle detection. With the new GOAT A and O series, ECOVACS now wants to have eliminated these weaknesses and is focusing on improved sensor technology and more precise control.

The new GOAT A-series with high area performance
The GOAT A-Series is specifically designed for larger gardens and offers high mowing performance with improved navigation.
Technical highlights of the A series:
- Dual LiDAR & RTK-assisted navigation: While the GOAT G1 reached its limits with poor GPS signals, the new A-Series combines RTK+Vision technology with dual LiDAR to enable precise orientation even in shady areas.
- Fast area coverage: The cutting width of 33 cm enables a high area performance of up to 400 m² per hour.
- Electrically adjustable cutting height: Users can adjust the cutting height from 3 to 9 cm in 0,5 cm increments in the app.
- TrueEdge technology for precise edge mowing: The robot can drive up to 5 cm from obstacles in order to mow edge areas as effectively as possible.
- Fast charging: The 32V battery technology allows charging in just 45 minutes, allowing longer running times without major interruptions.

While ECOVACS wants to close the gap to premium manufacturers such as Husqvarna or Segway Navimow with the new models, it remains to be seen whether the navigation will work reliably enough this time to seriously challenge the competition.

The GOAT O-series for winding gardens
For smaller gardens or complex terrain with many obstacles, ECOVACS has developed the GOAT O series.

What makes the O-series special?
- Compact design: With a housing width of only 40 cm, the robot can also drive through passages that are 70 cm narrow.
- Better obstacle detection: The new AIVI 3D system with 3D ToF LiDAR is designed to detect and avoid over 200 obstacles, including toys or animals, even more reliably.
- Ride-On Mowing & Edge Optimization: The robot can drive over drivable surfaces such as stone paths to maximize the lawn area as much as possible.
- Automatic mapping without boundary wire: Instead of manual setup, the mower maps its area independently and saves virtual boundaries.

With the new GOAT A and O series, ECOVACS has presented an ambitious further development of its first robotic lawnmower. Improved navigation, more powerful batteries and more precise control should eliminate the biggest problems of the GOAT G1 and close the gap to premium manufacturers such as Husqvarna or Segway Navimow.
Whether the new models keep their promise will only be shown in independent tests. If you want to be on the safe side, you should wait for the first reviews before deciding on a model. The new ECOVACS GOAT models will be available in stores from February 10, 2025.

Leonhard
Hello
Can the Ecovacs Goat o500 Panorama mow on 1, 2 or even 3 sides of the house?
Thank you in advance for your information.
Kind regards, Leonhard Schmid
Erhard
Is it possible to clean it with a water hose?
Timo
Hello Erhard,
The predecessor could be cleaned from below with a water hose, so I assume that it will also be possible with the new models.
Does the O500 need WiFi coverage in the entire mowing area? I can't find any information on this.
See heading
Rudi
Are they better than the Navimow?
