Design and display: Premium materials and more brightness
Visually, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra remains true to the classic camera aesthetic, but stands out from its predecessor with an even more robust construction. The Silver Chrome variant now combines aerospace-grade fiberglass with PU leather for increased durability. In addition, the device offers the Xiaomi Shield Glass 2.0 protection technology, which, according to the manufacturer, offers 16 times greater drop resistance compared to the previous generation.
The display has also been redesigned. The 6,73-inch WQHD+ AMOLED display still offers a resolution of 3200 x 1440 pixels and a pixel density of 522 ppi, but with a peak brightness of 3200 nits instead of the 3000 nits of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. Thanks to the new 1Hz Always-On technology, the time and notifications are always visible without affecting battery life.
Camera: Improved Leica technology
This year, Xiaomi is once again focusing on the camera. An advanced Leica VARIO-SUMMILUX camera with a variable focal length of 14 mm to 200 mm and optical zoom has been installed. Compared to the Xiaomi 14 Ultra with a maximum focal length of 120 mm, the zoom spectrum has been expanded again.

New is the Stepless Master Portrait, which allows a continuous change between 23 mm and 135 mm focal length. The video function has also been improved. High-resolution 4K video recordings at 120 fps are now also possible with the telephoto camera, whereas the previous model was limited to 60 fps.
Dolby Vision video recording in 4K at 60 fps is also supported, allowing for a consistent look across all lenses. 8K video recording at 30 fps is still available, but only with the main camera.
To get even more out of the camera, photography enthusiasts can also use a separately available Photography Kit for the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. This adds a physical shutter button, an integrated additional battery and extended control options.
Performance: Snapdragon 8 Elite
Under the hood is the brand new Snapdragon 8 Elite, manufactured in TSMC's 3nm process. According to Xiaomi, the chip delivers 45% more CPU and 44% more GPU performance than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. The system is supported by 16 GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1 TB UFS 4.1 storage for even faster loading times.
To ensure that the device does not overheat even under heavy load, Xiaomi uses the new 3D dual-channel IceLoop cooling system. It now cools 20% more efficiently than the previous model and promises longer video recordings without thermal throttling.
Battery and charging: Larger capacity, faster wireless charging
With a capacity of 5410 mAh, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra offers one of the largest batteries in the premium segment. The Xiaomi Surge Battery technology uses silicon carbide (SiC), which enables a higher energy density with the same size.
However, the Chinese model has an even larger battery with 6000 mAh. The reason for the reduced battery capacity is probably strict transport regulations within the EU.
There are also advances in charging. While the Xiaomi 14 Ultra could be charged wirelessly at 50W, the new model now supports 80W wireless HyperCharge. The 90W wired HyperCharge remains, allowing the device to be fully charged in under 35 minutes.
Xiaomi HyperOS 2: More AI, more productivity
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra runs on Xiaomi HyperOS 2, which brings numerous new AI features:
- AI Writing: Automatic text creation, voice transcription and intelligent summaries
- AI Image Enhancement: Optimized photo editing with AI Eraser Pro and AI Reflection Removal
- AI Interpreter: Real-time translations in multiple languages
- HyperConnect: Improved device integration with Xiaomi ecosystem, including cross-device camera usage
The security features have also been improved. The new ultrasonic fingerprint sensor now works 56% faster than its predecessor and is said to work more reliably even under adverse conditions.
Major Android updates will be available for four years. Security patches will be available for six years. This means that Xiaomi is once again lagging behind the pioneers Google and Samsung, who promise seven years of updates.

Price and availability
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is now available in Xiaomi online store and available from selected retailers in the variants 16 GB + 512 GB (1.499,90 euros) and 16 GB + 1 TB (1.699,90 euros).
In the early bird phase, there are attractive bundle offers, including the Xiaomi Projector L1 or the Xiaomi 15 Ultra Photography Kit Legend Edition with extended camera accessories.
