New design with customizable elements
The Xiaomi Watch S4 remains round and has a highly polished stainless steel look. The interchangeable bezel design has remained, but has been further expanded. The frames of the watch are even easier to replace, with Xiaomi offering eight different style options. There are also over 200 watch faces available for customization, including dynamic portrait and animal motifs.
The weight remains almost identical to the Watch S44,5 at 3 g (without strap). The case dimensions of 47,3 mm x 47,3 mm x 12,0 mm are also almost unchanged. Users can choose between different straps made of fluororubber, nylon or leather that adapt to different wrist sizes.
Brilliant AMOLED display and long battery life
The 1,43-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels and a pixel density of 326 ppi is almost identical to the Watch S3, but now has a significantly higher peak brightness of 2200 nits. This means that the display remains perfectly readable even in direct sunlight. As with the Watch S3, Xiaomi uses Corning Gorilla Glass for additional protection of the display.
The battery capacity of 486 mAh remains unchanged, but according to Xiaomi, efficiency has been further increased through optimized energy management under Xiaomi HyperOS 2. Xiaomi promises a battery life of up to 15 days in typical usage mode. However, use in Always-On Display mode should still reduce the runtime to around 5 days, similar to the Watch S3. Fast charging is supported and should enable up to two days of use with a 5-minute charging time.
Improved health features and sports tracking
Xiaomi has further optimized the health and fitness functions of the Watch S4. The watch offers 24/7 health monitoring, including heart rate and SpO2 measurement, stress tracking and sleep analysis. According to Xiaomi, the improved sensors achieve a heart rate measurement accuracy of 98%. The new "One-Tap Health Insight" feature provides an overview of the most important health data within a minute.
As with the Watch S3, microphone and speaker are supported, so that phone calls can be made directly via the watch. Sports enthusiasts benefit from 150+ sports modes and dual-frequency GNSS support (L1+L5) for more precise positioning during outdoor activities. Xiaomi also offers 10 professional running courses and seamless integration with the Suunto app for synchronization with third-party fitness platforms.
HyperOS 2 with new control options
On the software side, Xiaomi relies on the new HyperOS 2, which makes the control of the watch even better. In addition to a rotating crown, the system offers customizable widget cards and an editable app list.
The Watch S4 can be seamlessly connected to other Xiaomi devices via Xiaomi Smart Hub, including smartphones, tablets and even Xiaomi Home products. Users can control smart home devices, reject calls or use new gesture controls to turn presentation slides or take selfies directly from their wrist.
