Flat design
With the Edge 40, Motorola has now presented an inexpensive alternative to the recently released Edge 40 Pro. The smartphone attaches great importance to aesthetics and is one of the slimmest devices in its class at just 7,58 mm.
The frame is made of aluminum and the back is made of soft synthetic leather, which should allow for a comfortable grip. In addition, the smartphone is protected against dust and water according to IP68 and comes in three colors: Eclipse Black, Nebula Green and Lunar Blue.
6,55 inch curved display
The Edge 40's display is a borderless 6,55-inch POLED curved display. It offers Full HD+ resolution, HDR10+ certification and a DCI-P3 color space for vivid, true-to-life colors. The fast refresh rate of 144 Hz enables smooth gaming, scrolling and multitasking.
50 MP camera system
On the back is the camera system with a 50 MP main camera and a 13 MP ultra wide-angle camera. The main camera is optically stabilized and uses a large f/1.4 aperture.
According to Motorola, this ensures better images in low-light environments, allows for a natural soft-focus background and faster recording speeds. There is also a 32 MP selfie camera on the front.
MediaTek Dimensity 8020
As for the internal hardware, Motorola has opted for the MediaTek Dimensity 8020, 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Experience has shown that the mobile platform performs very well in apps and games and supports fast 5G mobile communications.
On the software side, the smartphone starts with Android 13. After Motorola's update guarantee, the Edge 40 will still see Android 15 and 3 years of security updates.
68 W turbo power
The 68W TurboPower fast charging technology makes the 4400 mAh battery ready for the whole day in just 10 minutes. Additionally, 15W wireless charging allows for more convenience and flexibility when charging your device.
Price and availability
With the Motorola Edge 40, Motorola shows once again that it is possible to combine powerful technology and stylish design in an attractive price package. The smartphone will be available in stores from the end of May at a price of 599,99 euros (RRP).
