First impression of the iWOWN i5 Plus
Without much fuss, the iWOWN i5 fitness tracker is delivered in a stealthy cardboard box, which also contained an English-language instruction manual.
The iWOWN i5 wearable was fully charged when it was received and immediately ready to go when the protective film was removed. Externally, the bracelet makes a good impression. It is made of TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane), is adjustable in size and neatly processed. Two pressure points ensure a secure hold. The actual tracker is removable and has its own USB connector, which means it can be charged like a USB stick. In addition, the small unit has its own display and a notification LED.
Display
The display of the fitness tracker has a diagonal of 0.91 inches and is a so-called OLED display, which differs from conventional LCDs in its very high contrast, fast response time and higher energy efficiency. The resolution is 128x32 pixels. The display is easy to read and is sufficiently bright.
The touchscreen reacted to all inputs during the test. Multifunctional swiping movements and pressure entries are possible. The iWOWN i5 also supports gesture recognition, whereby the display is automatically activated by moving the arm.
App and features
To connect the iWOWN i5 Plus to a smartphone or tablet, you need the “Zeroner” app, which is available in both the Google PlayStore (Android 4.3 and higher) and the AppStore (iOS 7 and higher). Before installing, you should be aware that the app requires a lot of permissions and, among other things, also needs access to the phone book and other personal data! To use the app you have to create a user account. The app is clearly designed and offers many functions and setting options.
Functions of the fitness tracker
The display of the iWOWN i5 Plus shows the time, the battery level, the active Bluetooth connection and the date. With a swipe on the display, you can switch to the 2 page, where you can see the number of steps taken, the calories burned and the measured distance. On page 3 you can activate the sleep mode and the pairing mode or switch off the device.
Features of the iWOWN i5 App
Pedometer
The pedometer is comparable to a Xiaomi Mi Band. The device saves the steps taken and transmits the data to the smartphone connected via Bluetooth. Within the Zeroner app you can then see the current steps taken, the calories burned, the active movement time and the measured distance. All determined data is also clearly displayed in a graph. Within the "History" subcategory, all week and month data can be called up and compared. This review extends up to 14 weeks or 12 months.
In order to achieve more precise results, the iWOWN i5 can be individually configured by specifying height, weight, gender and age. A daily goal can also be set. The accuracy of the step counter is good and achieved a similar value after a direct comparison test with the first generation Mi Band.
sleep monitor
The sleep monitor also has a graphical overview of nighttime sleep. In addition, values for deep sleep, light sleep and the times of falling asleep and getting up are measured. There is also a weekly and monthly review.
The sleep monitor can be individually activated directly on the iWOWN i5 Plus, or you can activate the automatic detection of the sleep mode within the Zeroner app. Both worked very well in the test.
Notifications
The iWOWN i5 Plus fitness bracelet can receive “push messages” from the smartphone. As soon as a call comes in on the smartphone, the bracelet begins to vibrate, information about the caller (telephone number, etc.) appears on the display and the notification LED on the side flashes very bright white.
In addition, complete SMS messages can be displayed on the fitness tracker, Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and Skype notifications are also transmitted. You can determine yourself which messages should be forwarded to the iWOWN i5 Plus within the Zeroner app.
Other
Other functions and setting options include a motion reminder, an alarm clock, English units of measurement can be activated, you can switch between 24 and 12 hours and the automatic sleep mode, gesture recognition and the notification LED can be activated or deactivated.
Battery
The capacity of the battery is 75mAh. A very low value, but even after 4 days of continuous use, my iWOWN i5 Plus had only used 50% of the battery. The OLED display is very economical and a very energy-efficient standard was used with Bluetooth 4.0. The charging time is around 30 minutes.

The iWOWN i5 is an inexpensive fitness bracelet that offers a lot and has now even replaced my Mi Band. Thanks to the additional display, the i5 Plus scores particularly well with notifications, some of which can be displayed together with their content. The pedometer works accurately and the values of the sleep monitor don't seem out of place either. The "Zeroner" app is clearly designed and offers many setting options.
Only the design of the iWOWN i5 Plus could not convince me personally. Also, I would have liked a waterproof device.
