IFA 2026: BenQ showcases new ScreenBar Max for dual-monitor setups and iScreenBar for the iMac

Published by Timo Altmeyer on the 3. September 2026

BenQ has expanded its ScreenBar series with two new monitor lights. The ScreenBar Max is specifically designed for dual-monitor setups, while the iScreenBar is designed for Apple's iMac. Both models are available now and have received the Red Dot Design Award 2026.

ScreenBar Max illuminates workstations with two monitors

The ScreenBar Max is designed for larger desks and setups with two monitors side by side. BenQ achieves this with a telescopically adjustable design, allowing the light to be adapted to different monitor configurations.

The so-called ASYM-TriZone Light distributes light asymmetrically across three zones and is designed to illuminate the workspace without shining light directly onto the displays. A 36-degree beam angle also prevents the light from shining directly into the eyes.

According to the manufacturer, the ScreenBar Max achieves an illuminance of up to 1.400 lux at its center. An area of 140 × 70 centimeters is said to be illuminated with at least 500 lux. This means the illuminated area is significantly larger than that of monitor lights designed for a single screen.

Additionally, the ScreenBar Max features a rear light. This is designed to reduce the brightness difference between the monitor and the surrounding environment, thus creating more pleasant lighting conditions, especially in darker rooms.

An automatic dimming function measures the ambient light and adjusts the front lighting accordingly. According to BenQ, it automatically sets the brightness to 700 lux in too dark an environment. Brightness and color temperature can also be adjusted manually and viewed on a digital display.

Additional features include horizontal position adjustment via a rail system, height adjustment for different monitors and monitor arms, and presence detection that can automatically switch the light on and off.

iScreenBar specifically designed for Apple's iMac

The intended use of the new iScreenBar is considerably more specific. BenQ describes it as the first monitor light designed specifically for the Apple iMac.

A key difference compared to universal monitor lights is the mounting method. Instead of supporting the light on the top edge of the display, the iScreenBar attaches magnetically to the back of the iMac. This ensures that neither the integrated camera, the microphone array, nor the Apple logo are obscured.

BenQ's design is clearly inspired by the iMac. The housing is made of CNC-milled aluminum, while the control panel is made of glass. The lamp will be available in silver at launch. Blue and green versions are expected to follow by the end of 2026.

Technically, BenQ's ASYM Light technology is used. It directs the light onto the work surface and is designed to reduce reflections on the display as well as direct glare. According to the manufacturer, the illumination reaches more than 1.000 lux in the center.

A special feature is the integrated video mode. In this mode, the central light segment is deactivated and the side lighting is increased. This is intended to reduce visible light reflections or glare in the camera image during video conferences.

Features also include automatic brightness control and presence detection via a 24 GHz radar sensor.

Controlling the iScreenBar via a macOS app

To complement its tight iMac integration, the iScreenBar can also be controlled via a dedicated macOS app. The application will be available through the Mac App Store.

This allows you to configure settings such as brightness and color temperature. Settings should also be possible depending on the application being used.

The light can synchronize with the iMac's system state. When the Mac starts up, the iScreenBar also turns on. When the computer goes into sleep mode, the light turns off automatically.

Red Dot and iF Design Award 2026

Both the ScreenBar Max and the iScreenBar received the Red Dot Design Award 2026. The iScreenBar also received the iF Design Award 2026.

BenQ is thus positioning the two models not only as functional workplace lighting, but also places great emphasis on integrating the lights as discreetly as possible into existing workplace setups.
