Advanced 1-inch sensor and dual telephoto camera

The Pura 70 Ultra already impressed with its 1-inch main camera and pop-up lens. With the new Pura 80 Ultra, HUAWEI has done away with the mechanism and instead opted for a fixed quad-camera system with two telephoto lenses: an 83 mm periscope camera (3,7x optical zoom) and a second 212 mm periscope camera (9,4x zoom). Both telephoto cameras use the same sensor and combine optical image stabilization (OIS) with HUAWEI's new Ultra Lighting HDR technology.

The large 1-inch main sensor (50 MP, f/1.6–4.0) remains the heart of the system and, according to HUAWEI, delivers an industry-leading dynamic range of 16 EV. The setup is complemented by a 40 MP ultra-wide-angle camera that also enables macro photography. HUAWEI promises natural colors, clean contrasts, and fine details, even at night or in backlit conditions.

More power with Kirin 9020

Under the hood is the new Kirin 9020 with 16 GB of RAM and either 512 GB or 1 TB of storage. The chip is still based on 7nm technology, but according to HUAWEI, it offers improved energy management and higher AI performance.

In benchmarks, the Pura 80 Ultra achieves around 1,16 million points in AnTuTu (v10), surpassing the Kirin 9010 of its predecessor. Graphics tasks are handled by the Maleoon 920 GPU, which shows particular improvement in video processing and HDR playback.

Display and battery performance

The 6,8-inch LTPO OLED display has a resolution of 1276 × 2848 pixels and reaches a peak brightness of up to 3000 nits. Thanks to HDR Vivid, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and 1440 Hz PWM dimming, it is among the brightest and least flickering panels on the market.

The battery capacity remains at 5.170 mAh, with 100W SuperCharge and 80W wireless charging. A 5.700 mAh version is used in China. According to HUAWEI, the battery lasts up to 41 hours of combined use and achieves 1000 charge cycles.

EMUI 15 and new connectivity

The Pura 80 Ultra runs EMUI 15 (international) or HarmonyOS 5.1 in China. It supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.2, USB-C 3.1 with DisplayPort and offers eSIM support.

Also new is the side-integrated fingerprint sensor, whereas the previous model still relied on an optical in-display sensor.

New design and robust protection

Visually, the Pura series remains true to its distinctive style, but gains a new, luxurious touch with the Forward Symbol design. The golden ring around the camera symbolizes the HUAWEI logo and reflects light similarly to fine watches or jewelry.

The casing measures 163 × 76,1 × 8,3 mm, weighs 233,5 grams, and is IP68/IP69 rated for dust and water resistance. New is the Crystal Armor Kunlun Glass 2, which, according to HUAWEI, is 16 times more scratch-resistant and 25 times more drop-resistant than conventional glass. This also surpasses the first-generation Kunlun Glass from the Pura 70 Ultra.

Price and availability

The HUAWEI Pura 80 Ultra is now available in Prestige Gold and Golden Black. The MSRP is €1.499 (512 GB).

To kick things off, until November 30, 2025, HUAWEI is including a bonus package with the HUAWEI Watch GT 5, a smartphone case, a 100-watt charger and 12 months of HUAWEI Care+ free of charge.
