PaperMatte display against reflections
The 11,5-inch LCD panel offers a resolution of 2.456 × 1.600 pixels at 120 Hz. Nano-etching technology and a special optical coating reduce reflections, improving readability even in direct sunlight.
Additionally, HUAWEI relies on circular polarization, which is designed to improve viewing angle stability and image quality. DC dimming ensures brightness is controlled without flickering. The manufacturer aims to make longer study sessions or work situations more eye-friendly.
Keyboard and multitasking functions
The PaperMatte edition comes standard with a Smart Keyboard. It also serves as a protective cover and is connected via magnetic mounts. For notes and drawings, the tablet supports the M-Pencil (3rd generation), which is available for €20 during the promotional period.
The MatePad 11,5" runs HarmonyOS 4.3, Huawei's Android-based operating system. In addition to standard features, it offers Floating Multi-Window and Super Device: users can use multiple apps in parallel or move files between the manufacturer's smartphone, tablet, and notebook.
In everyday life, this means that lecture notes, parallel PDFs, and a communication app can be used simultaneously without having to constantly switch between full-screen apps. The HUAWEI Notes app, in particular, is deeply integrated here. In addition to classic writing and drawing tools, there are new features such as handwriting smoothing, various digital brushes, and customizable layouts.
Hardware, battery and audio
Inside, HUAWEI relies on a Kirin SoC, which isn't specified in any further detail. In terms of performance, the tablet is geared toward the upper mid-range, but falls well short of flagships like the iPad Pro or the MatePad Pro. The hardware is still sufficient for office work, note-taking, and media consumption.
The battery capacity has grown to 10.100 mAh, which is superior to many direct competitors. According to the manufacturer, this is enough for up to 14 hours of video playback. Charging is via 40 W SuperCharge, faster than most iPads, which are limited to a maximum of 20–30 watts.
The cooling system has also been redesigned and is said to be 25 percent more efficient than its predecessor. This ensures the tablet maintains stable performance even during longer work or study sessions.
For audio, HUAWEI integrates a four-speaker setup with Histen 9.0 optimization. The goal is a wider soundstage that should make movies and online meetings more immersive.
