Update 15. January 2025
The HONOR Magic 7 Pro is now available in Europe. You can find my first impression of the device here.
Update 04. December 2024
It's getting more specific! A teaser has now appeared on the Italian HONOR website, where interested parties can already sign up for a discount campaign. There will be a discount of up to €200 on the retail price. This would put the price at €1.199.
Strategic move against Samsung?
The HONOR Magic 7 Pro was already introduced in China on October 30, 2024 (to the news). Significantly earlier than its predecessor, the Magic 6 Pro, which made its debut in China on January 11, 2024. The fact that the global launch is now also being brought forward to January 27, 2025 and not taking place as expected during the MWC at the end of February 2025 seems logical and indicates a changed strategy.
The decision not to attend MWC 2025 may not be a coincidence. Rumors suggest that Samsung is planning to unveil the Galaxy S25 series just a few days earlier, on January 22, 2025. HONOR's decision to bring forward the global market launch is likely a strategic move to compete directly with Samsung's new flagship series and steal market share.
A whole series in the planning?
The leaked teaser of @ RODENT950 speaks of a "series", which suggests at least one more model alongside the HONOR Magic 7 Pro. While previous Lite versions of the Magic series were more in the budget range and had little in common with the flagship models, this time a regular Magic 7 could be released globally. This would allow HONOR to expand the product line appropriately and possibly also appeal to new target groups.
Clues from the My HONOR app further fuel these rumors, as an entry has already appeared among the listed devices announcing the imminent release of a new smartphone.
High-end specifications expected
The hardware of the global Magic 7 Pro is likely to be very similar to the Chinese version, if not identical. According to previous leaks, the following specifications are likely:

This means that HONOR is clearly positioning itself in the premium segment and is competing directly against Samsung's Galaxy S25 Ultra, which is also said to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
Price and availability
The possible price could cause discussions. According to leaker @RODENT950, the starting price for the Magic 7 Pro is 1.399 euros, which is an increase of 100 euros compared to the Magic 6 Pro. It remains to be seen whether HONOR will mitigate this price with special offers or discounts at launch.

Hello Timo, is it true that satellite communication will only be available in the 1 TB version?
With kind regards,
Berndt
Timo
Hi Berndt,
I don't have any information on this at the moment, but I strongly assume that satellite communication will again only be available for the Chinese models.

In terms of hardware, the Honor devices are really good, but there is still so much room for improvement when it comes to software. I had a Magic 4 Pro for a long time and now I can throw it in the bin because there are no more updates. Of course, at some point you only pay half as much as the big players, but they also give twice as many updates. I'm curious to see whether Honor will follow suit with the Magic 7 Pro and offer slightly longer updates.

What's the point of 8 years of updates if the hardware is already outdated after 2 years? I don't know anyone who uses a smartphone for more than 3 years.
Heiko
Which bubble do you live in? 😀 Everyone I know uses their smartphone until it no longer works. I know enough people who bought a Pixel 3 back then and are only now switching because there are no more updates. We're now at the Pixel 9...
Hardware or not, software is at least as important, if not more so. AI now takes care of a large part of the work.

Hi Timo, would you still recommend the Magic 6 Pro or would it make sense to wait for the 7? The camera and battery are very important to me, but if the difference to the 6 isn't too big, I'd prefer the 6 in terms of price. What do you think about this?
Timo
Hi Peterle,
With the 6 you still get a top smartphone, which I can recommend without reservation. If price is an issue, go for the 6 Pro. It is now available for less than €800. The Magic 7 Pro will most likely be available with discounts when it is released, but probably not for less than €1000.

I had the same question and decided to go for the Magic 6 Pro. I don't regret it! I'm still curious to see what the 7 Pro will be like and whether it's much better than the 6.
