Dyson is primarily known for vacuum cleaners, air purifiers, and styling tools. Now, the British-based company is entering a new product category and launching its first toothbrush, the Dyson CameraJet.
The most unusual feature is already in the name. A 100.000-pixel (0.1 megapixel) macro camera is integrated into the toothbrush. According to Dyson, it analyzes 28 images per second while brushing, enabling it to detect and track interdental spaces in real time and even predict their position.
Dyson uses its own algorithm called Gap Optical Targeting for this. When the toothbrush detects a gap between teeth, the CameraJet is designed to react within 100 milliseconds and direct a conical jet of mouthwash precisely onto the affected area. This, in turn, is intended to help remove plaque even in places where a conventional toothbrush has difficulty reaching.
Camera becomes a digital mouth mirror
The camera isn't just for automatically controlling the water jet. The MyDyson app allows you to access a live view from the camera. In a way, the toothbrush functions like a small endoscope, providing a view of areas in the mouth that are normally difficult to see in a mirror.
Regarding data privacy, Dyson promises that no images are stored on the toothbrush or in the cloud. The camera is only active during live view or automatic spray mode.
Dyson also incorporates several unique technical features into the actual brushing process. The brush head has bristles of varying firmness: firmer bristles in the center are designed to remove surface stains, while softer outer bristles clean the gum line. Additionally, the toothbrush changes its sonic vibrations during use.
A 12,5 milliliter reservoir is integrated for the mouthwash. It is designed to hold enough liquid for a complete application without filling the mouth with mouthwash.
Own toothpaste and mouthwash system
Dyson doesn't just sell the toothbrush; it has developed a complete dental system. This includes a special toothpaste and a mouthwash.
The toothpaste is free of the foaming agent SLS. Less foam is intended to give the camera a clear view, allowing the automatic detection of interdental spaces to function reliably. According to Dyson, the mouthwash was also specially developed for the precision jet of the CameraJet. The company states that the product is the result of six years of research and development.
479 euros at market launch
Dyson's entry into oral care isn't cheap. The Dyson CameraJet costs €479 and has been available since September 1, 2026, from Dyson, in its own stores and at selected retail partners.
The package includes the toothbrush, a charging station, a travel case, and Dyson toothpaste and mouthwash. The CameraJet is available in Ultra Blue and Ceramic Pink.
