Larger external display
Google remains true to its original design. The characteristic camera array on the back remains unchanged, as do the dimensions when unfolded. Only the thickness has been slightly reduced from 5,3 to 5,1 mm. In comparison, the recently introduced Galaxy z fold7 only 4,2 mm thin, the HONOR Magic V5 It even reaches a mere 4,1 mm.
The outer display has grown from 6,3 to 6,4 inches. The bezel around the display has shrunk, and the cover display now boasts a brightness of up to 3.000 nits, which should improve sunlight readability. The interior still features an 8-inch OLED panel with a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
Tensor G5 and up to 1 TB of storage
Inside, Google is using the new Tensor G3, manufactured using the 5nm process. Concrete performance data isn't available yet, but as with previous Tensor generations, the focus is likely to be less on performance benchmarks and more on AI optimization and efficiency.
The chip is supported by 16 GB of RAM and, for the first time, up to 1 TB of internal storage. 256 GB and 512 GB versions are also available.
Camera setup without any big surprises
Google is keeping things understated when it comes to the camera. The setup still consists of a 48 MP main camera, a 10,5 MP ultrawide-angle lens, and a 10,8 MP telephoto lens with 10x zoom. Both displays feature XNUMX MP selfie cameras.
Anyone hoping for significant camera upgrades will be disappointed. However, the tried-and-tested setup should still be sufficient for many users.
More battery, but no charging record
One of the biggest changes is the battery. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold has a 5.015 mAh battery, about 7 percent more than its predecessor and even 9 percent more than the current Galaxy Z Fold7. Charging is done via cable at 23 watts, and wirelessly at 15 watts, the latter using the Qi2 standard. This puts Google in the mid-range of current charging speeds.
Industry first: IP68 certification for a foldable
The biggest surprise in the leak concerns the casing. According to AndroidHeadlines, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will be the first foldable phone ever to receive an IP68 certification.
In contrast to Samsung's IP48 approach or the IP58 class of Honor and Vivo, this means complete protection against dust and water, comparable to classic smartphones.
outlook
Samsung introduced the Galaxy Z Fold7, a significantly thinner foldable phone with a 200 MP camera and Galaxy AI. HONOR counters with the ultra-light Magic V5, which packs a 4,1 mAh battery despite its record-breaking 5.820 mm thickness.
In direct comparison, Google's foldable phone appears less spectacular, but that's precisely what could make it stand out. Robust, balanced, and perfectly tuned for Android software. What will be crucial is how Google prices and presents the entire package.
Google is expected to officially unveil the Pixel 10 Pro Fold at the next "Made by Google" event.
