Focus on Pixel hardware and AI
Officially, the invitation mentions "new additions to the Pixel portfolio." Industry insiders expect a total of five new devices: the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and the Pixel Watch 4 in two sizes.
The line-up could be complemented by new Pixel Buds and the first features of Android 16 as well as the new "Material 3 Expressive" design, which is already being tested in beta.
Pixel 10 with telephoto zoom, Pro models with fast charging
With the Pixel 10, Google seems to be focusing on subtle hardware updates. Rumors suggest the main sensor will shrink to 48 MP with a 1/2-inch size. In return, the base model will get a 10,8 MP telephoto camera with five times optical zoom for the first time. A brighter 3.000 nit display and a 4.970 mAh battery round out the package.
The Pixel 10 Pro and the XL model are expected to offer slightly larger batteries and improved wireless charging speeds—29 watts for the Pro and 39 watts for the XL. Otherwise, much of the display and camera will likely remain the same.
Pixel Fold now waterproof
Things get more exciting with the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, whose Specs leaked just a few days ago The new foldable device is said to be IP68 certified, water and dust resistant, have a thinner form factor (only 5,1 mm thick), and feature an improved secondary display with narrower bezels. According to the leak, the battery will also be larger by 7 percent.
Pixel Watch 4: Small upgrade with larger battery
According to current information, the Pixel Watch 4 will once again use the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 processor, which was already used in the Watch 3. A new Cortex-M55-based coprocessor and a slightly larger battery should improve battery life. Whether there will be other innovations in terms of fitness tracking or software remains to be seen.
Early start ahead of Apple
With the August event, Google is making advance payments almost a month before the expected iPhone 17 launch. Last year, Google already brought forward its release schedule to be more competitive in the fall market. Android 16 was also completed in June this year.
Whether Google will actually pull off a surprise coup this time or stick with minor upgrades will be revealed on August 20th.
