GearBest Germany - China shop is insolvent!

Updated by Timo Altmeyer on the 14. August 2023

GearBest is now available entirely in German! We have looked at what you need to consider when buying from the German GearBest site and how the German sub-site differs from the “original”. You can find all the information about the individual warehouses, useful tips for buying and new offers here!

GearBest Germany Shop

GearBest is history!

The former giant of China shopping has filed for bankruptcy. The website is no longer available and it can be assumed that GearBest will not return.

Shop on GearBest

GearBest has expanded its online shop and is now completely available in German. The following changes have been made.

  1. To make shopping on GearBest even more convenient, the product pages are now also available in German.
  2. There are now the warehouse options "DE-CN" and "DE-HK" . The products will continue to be shipped directly from China, but will be shipped via “Germany Express” at no additional cost.
  3.  45 Day Money Back Guarantee: Products can be exchanged up to 45 days after receipt. However, the buyer bears the return shipping costs! Products that reach you as “Dead on Arrival” (DoA) will be replaced with exchange products. GearBest will reimburse the return shipping costs.
  4. The free repair period is 1 year from the date of purchase, unless otherwise stated on the product page. The return shipping costs to GearBest are borne by the buyer. GearBest bears the return shipping costs to the buyer!
  5. If you order on the German GearBest site, all products will be automatically delivered via “Germany Express”. You usually receive your goods after 10 to 14 days.

One advantage of GearBest Germany is the possibility of repairs in a repair center within Europe. This saves you the horrific shipping costs to China on the one hand, and the running distance is significantly shorter. Shipping to China is hardly possible, especially for products with an integrated battery, as most shipping service providers are not allowed to accept them according to the security guidelines for air freight.

Important update 04. March 2019

Gearbest has started to introduce so-called marketplaces. Similar to Amazon Marketplaces, intermediaries can offer their products directly via the platform. Marketplaces can be identified via the product page. The “Store” is mentioned there at the top right. Gearbest continues to take care of payment processing and shipping. This means that there is also the 7-day 7-day dead on arrival guarantee, the 45-day money-back guarantee and the 1-year repair guarantee via a marketplace.

Important update 30. January 2019

Due to the Chinese New Year, shipping may be delayed between 04.02/10.02 and 12.02/XNUMX. This not only applies to GearBest, but to all import shops from China! From February XNUMXth, the process should have normalized again.

Important update 20. September 2018

The European warehouses have been renamed again. This time GearBest has opted for the “Fast” label. You can find out where the warehouses are located in our overview below.

Important update 11. July 2018

GearBest has once again decided to rename its European warehouses. Instead of “GW”, all EU warehouses start with the marking “CN-0”. It is not yet clear why the retailer decided to take this step. To provide clarity, we have broken down the “new” warehouses based on their locations further down in the article.

Important update 28. April 2018

GearBest has undergone a design update. The structure of the homepage in general, the link tag structure and also the appearance of the product and shopping cart page were changed. Vouchers can no longer be entered directly into the shopping cart, but only after an additional click on “Proceed to Check out”. The names of the individual warehouses have remained the same.

Important update 20. March 2018

GearBest has the shipping under control again and orders arrive promptly. A sample shipment from March 09, 2018 was already delivered on March 20, just 11 days after the order was placed.

Important update 20. December 2017

GearBest customers from Germany and Austria can now send all defective products within the warranty conditions to the GearBest repair center based in Spain! This saves the often expensive and complicated shipping to China. It does not matter whether the order was placed directly via the international GearBest shop or via the dealer's German sub-shop (de.gearbest)! Further information is available directly from GearBest customer service!

Useful tips to order at GearBest

If you ordered for the first time at GearBest, or generally ordered in China, should note the following:

  • GearBest is available completely in German at de.gearbest.com and in English at gearbest.com. Once you have decided on a product, you should definitely compare the prices on both sides. Even if de.gearbest.com is available entirely in German, that does not mean that shipping takes place from Germany or the EU. Both sides share the same warehouses under a slightly different name! For the “DE-CN” and “DE-HK” options, shipping still takes place from China!
  • Many online shops from China attract people with flash sales. However, these flash sales are usually purely enticement offers. If you take a closer look at the product range, you will notice that 90% of the products are currently in the “flash sale”. Some of them are actually good offers that deserve the name “flash sale”, but you should compare the prices with other shops!
  • The voucher offers are much more interesting. For almost every current product there are current voucher campaigns where you can really save. You can find current vouchers daily in our GearBest voucher collection at:

GearBest coupon collection

  • GearBest offers numerous shipping options, from free to expensive. The most popular shipping option is probably "Germany Express" or "Priority Line", in which the delivery from GearBest is introduced into the EU and then transported to the recipient by a logistics company. The deliverer within Germany is Hermes. Depending on the volume of packages, the shipping time can be between 10 and 30 days. Other shipping methods include typical airmail with or without tracking, express shipping and shipping by train, which is particularly important for heavy shipments and batteries.
  • Anyone who orders in China and imports goods to Germany should note that the import sales tax (EUSt) of 22% (or 19%) applies from a total value (value of goods + shipping costs) of € 7! However, taxes below € 5 are not levied. If the value of the goods is over € 150, additional taxes apply according to the respective customs tariff!

Overview of the GearBest shipping methods

Priority Line

Probably the most popular shipping method when you order from Gearbest. The shipping method is usually offered free of charge. The delivery time is usually 10-15 working days. At peak times the delivery time can increase up to 25 working days. With this shipping method, Gearbest takes care of the import itself, so that there are no additional costs for the buyer. A shipment number is given and can be sent via 1tracking.net be followed.

Unregistered Air Mail / Registered Air Mail

This shipping method is also called snail shipping. The delivery time is usually more than 30 working days and even more than 40 working days at peak times. Depending on whether you choose unregistered or registered, you will receive a tracking number. The shipping method is usually offered free of charge, depending on the type of goods and the value of the goods, additional duties (taxes and customs) must be expected.

Expedited Shipping

The fastest shipping method Gearbest has to offer. However, it is also the most expensive, which, depending on the product, can cost more than € 20. The delivery time is only 4 to 10 working days. The delivery is processed via DHL Express. Customs clearance is carried out by DHL Express on behalf of the buyer. The buyer himself cannot clear the customs and is dependent on the service of DHL Express. This charges an additional capital commitment commission of € 12,50 + 19% VAT.

Update (December 2017)

GearBest has started to offer more and more products with shipping from so-called “EU warehouses”. There are now warehouses in the Czech Republic, Poland, Great Britain and Spain. The prices are slightly higher than the usual price for products shipped from China. The delivery time is between 3 and 7 working days.

Meanwhile, there are again delivery delays for orders placed in November and early December for which the shipping method “Germany Express” or “Priority Line” was selected. The delivery time is currently between 20 and 35 working days. After Germany Express was temporarily completely deactivated in November, then reactivated at the end of November for products with a value of over $200 and from certain categories, the shipping method has been deactivated again since December. According to GearBest, the delivery delays are due to the high volume of parcels during the (pre-)Christmas season. Germany Express should be available again from January!

GearBest recommends selecting the shipping method “Belgium Post” (BPost). A GearBest employee said that any customs duties and taxes incurred would be covered by GearBest if you show customer support proof of payment including an import receipt. However, if you want to be on the safe side, you should have GearBest confirm to what extent all costs incurred for the planned order will be covered before ordering. GearBest offers chat support that can be contacted within a few minutes.

Update (October 2017)

There are currently delivery delays for products that were ordered with “Germany Express” or “Priority Line” between early and mid-September. If your package has been in London for several days, it is most likely in customs there. GearBest is aware of the issue and will properly clear the stuck shipments. You will not incur any additional costs! The packages are expected to be delivered from mid-October.

Update (September 2017)

Another payment method has been added with Giropay. This is another form of electronic transfer offered by participating banks. Although all transfer data is processed via your own bank, you should still decide for yourself whether you want to make a payment via Giropay. PayPal or credit card are still the recommended payment methods for orders from China!

Update (August 2017)

In addition to PayPal and credit card, GearBest Germany now also accepts the “SOFORT Banking” payment options. This is an electronic form of transfer that is made directly from your own bank account. This payment method is particularly suitable for buyers without PayPal or credit card. For orders from China, however, we recommend paying via PayPal due to buyer protection!

The popular shipping method “Germany Express” will continue to be available. However, small parts under €100 from certain categories can no longer be ordered or delivered via Germany Express. For products over €100 and products from the smartphone, tablet, notebook, etc. The “Germany Express” shipping method is still offered. According to initial reports, deliveries here continue to be made via Hermes. Only the intermediate receiver was replaced. Delivery times are still 7 to 14 days.

  • Hi, I have goods shipped from a warehouse within the EU. Example: DG-W-3 / Great Britain or DG-W-5 / Czech Republic. Do you incur import sales tax and customs duties?
(... as it would logically be with a direct import from the Chinese warehouse DG-CN)
    Greetings G

    • Hi Guenter, if shipped within the EU, the goods have already been imported by the dealer. Further charges will not be charged to you then. The dealer has already taken over at the import.

  • Hello

I ordered from 3 days ago at gear Best, an 3D printer, also had Germany express
Clicked on and also taken DE-CN mail-order company. I got a hermes send number that still does not work. No tracking of the printer, definitely
I was so worried about customs. And I have written and best
Asked how it works. Then I got a message that the customs do not pay at gearbest and I at the click of purchase accept its provisions with those and I myself must dragen customs fees.

That made me really angry, because you pay more on the German gearbest page and I actually thought that it is because they pay for a customs. Germany express just how it is spanked.

what do you say about that? How long does the shipping take and are there any issues currently?

  • Hey, I know probably has been well answered this question here in this text, but I want to know again concretely come cost up to me when I order from the warehouse DE-CN (VAT, etc.). On the side of Gearbest is that these must be taken over by the customer. Unfortunately, I can not reach anyone at customer service. I hope that you can give me an answer despite stupid question. Best regards.

    • I also asked myself the same question two weeks ago. Came with me quite common with Hermes with German sender. Did not have to pay anything. I think it's the same shipping as on the normal gearbest side, only that it means otherwise. It is important that you select priority line. LG

  • Hi, I would like to give my mustard. I placed two orders on 06.11, which were then sent to 10.11 and 11.11. Once it was vape accessories (under 30 €) and once a phone (170 €). Both with Germany Express as shipping method.

The vape accessories arrived on December 13.12th. The smartphone hasn't yet. My Hermes tracking status still says "hasn't arrived at the distribution center yet bla bla". On this Faryaa page, by the way, both orders are still "waiting for flights". Apparently, this isn't updated at all. I'm excited to see if the smartphone arrives before Christmas. It's not a Christmas present, but I'd still like to get it in 2017.

    • Hi Sch3lm, there are currently many possibilities why the shipping is severely delayed. The most likely would be that GearBest would buy up the remaining capacity in the aircraft and use it to send smaller and light parcels in particular. However, that would speak against the fact that many smartphones have not yet arrived. Another possibility would of course be that there are problems with the import. GearBest doesn't really want to get that out. The support staff you write to probably don't know that themselves. They enter the tracking number at Faryaa and that's it. Or are dependent on sending out standard answers.

What has been shown is that most orders that were sent before November 14.11th have already arrived. Many people are talking about an exact delivery time of 30 days. GearBest has now also started to put customers off by automated email and blame the delivery delays on the "backlog" of the local shipping service providers and the weather. The message from "Faryaa" with "waiting for flights" also means nothing, as you already mentioned. Deliveries before November 14.11th have already been made without the shipment even being trackable with Faryaa. At the moment, it's just a matter of keeping calm. The shipments will certainly all arrive, even if it will be too late for many people as a Christmas present :/.

  • Good evening, I checked 11.11. ordered a smartphone from Gearbest. It was already shipped on the 14.11 and I was looking forward to having it in my hands two weeks later. It's been 30 days now and it still has not arrived. Should I be worried?

    • Hi Gerd, pretty much all goods deliveries from China are currently heavily delayed. If the delivery time was previously 10-14 days, it currently takes a good 25 to 40 days. There are simply too many shipments and too few planes transporting the shipments. The capacities are then allocated to the highest bidder. The delivery time should be shorter again from January. May I also ask which shipping method you chose for your order?

      • Thank you for the quick reply. I have received a Hermes shipment tracking number. My last status is from November 21.11st with “The shipment has not yet arrived at the Hermes distribution center XYZ”. Nothing has happened since then.

        • Hi Gerd, the status will change again as soon as the package actually arrived in Germany. As soon as the status changes it is also ratzfatz and you should get your delivery delivered after a few days. But do not worry, your delivery will surely arrive the next days or next week. Especially with China orders you should keep calm, even if it burns in your fingers every day to track the shipment again.

          • Hello Timo, my smartphone has arrived at the distribution center and will be delivered next week. So it all worked out, even if it took a little longer.
