Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra with 8-inch display and 200 MP camera

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra features an 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display when unfolded. It has a resolution of 2.504 x 2.256 pixels and an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. On the outside, there is a 6,5-inch display with a resolution of 2.520 x 1.080 pixels.

Despite its large main display, the foldable phone measures only 4,1 millimeters thick when open. When folded, it's 8,9 millimeters thick. According to Samsung, it weighs 215 grams.

Inside, it's powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. Depending on the configuration, Samsung combines the processor with 12 or 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB of internal storage.

On the back is a triple-camera setup. The main camera has a 200-megapixel resolution and optical image stabilization. It's complemented by a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. Videos can be recorded in 8K. Post-production options include the APV codec and Cine LUTs.

The battery has a capacity of 5.000 mAh and can be charged via cable at up to 45 watts. Wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare are also supported.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 will be lighter and more compact.

The regular Galaxy Z Fold8 is slightly smaller. Its main display measures 7,6 inches and has a resolution of 1.848 x 2.448 pixels. The unusual 3:4 aspect ratio is intended to be suitable for reading, watching videos, and working in multiple apps simultaneously.

On the outside, Samsung has installed a 5,5-inch AMOLED display. Both screens reach up to 120 Hz. The manufacturer specifies the maximum brightness of the main display as 3.000 nits.

Weighing 201 grams, the Galaxy Z Fold8 is lighter than the Ultra model. It measures 4,5 millimeters thick when open and 9,7 millimeters thick when folded.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy is also used here. Memory configurations range from 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage to 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage.

The camera system uses two 50-megapixel sensors. In addition to a wide-angle camera, there is an ultra-wide-angle camera. Unlike the Ultra model, there is no dedicated telephoto camera.

The battery is slightly smaller at 4.800 mAh. It also charges at up to 45 watts. New camera features include "My FanCam," which automatically tracks a selected subject and adjusts the framing. Dual recording allows the front and main cameras to record simultaneously.

Galaxy Z Flip8 with larger FlexWindow

The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is Samsung's most compact new foldable phone. When unfolded, it features a 6,9-inch AMOLED display with 2.520 x 1.080 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.

The outer FlexWindow grows to 4,1 inches. This allows apps, notifications, and selected AI functions to be used without fully unfolding the smartphone.

The Flip8 is 6,1 millimeters thin when open and weighs 180 grams. Unlike the two Fold models, it doesn't use a Qualcomm chip, but Samsung's own Exynos 2600. It also comes with 12 GB of RAM and either 256 or 512 GB of storage.

The main camera has a 50-megapixel resolution and is complemented by a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. Thanks to its foldable design, the main camera can also be used for selfies, with the outer display serving as a preview. The Flex mode also allows for hands-free shooting when the smartphone is partially unfolded and resting on a surface.

The battery has a capacity of 4.300 mAh. Wired charging is possible with up to 25 watts.

Galaxy AI and Google Gemini more strongly integrated

A key focus of the new models is once again on AI features. Samsung is expanding Now Brief, among other things, which is designed to provide personalized information based on routines and interests. The new Now Nudge feature suggests appropriate next actions based on ongoing conversations, such as checking an appointment or saving a location.

Google Gemini can use information on the display or the content of an image as context. According to Samsung, the app automation now supports more than 40 apps and services. This allows users to, for example, search for restaurants, make reservations, or retrieve tickets.

Gemini Notebook allows users to collect notes, files, images and recordings in a shared workspace and create summaries, reports or audio summaries, among other things.

Samsung points out that numerous AI features require an internet connection and a Samsung or Google account. Some services may also become subject to charges at a later date.

Android 17, Wi-Fi 7 and IP48

All three devices ship with Android 17 and One UI 9. Additional features include 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, eSIM support, and Samsung Knox Vault.

The foldables are IP48 certified, meaning they are protected against continuous immersion in fresh water. However, the second digit of the certification indicates that protection against small dust particles remains limited.

Samsung is using a new titanium alloy construction for its Fold models, which is intended to stabilize the flexible display and reduce the visible crease.

Prices and colors

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra starts at €2.199. It is available in Graphite, Cream, and Violet Shadow. The Green Shadow color remains exclusive to the Samsung online shop.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 will cost at least €1.999. Available colors include Graphite, Cream, and Lavender, as well as the online-exclusive Pistachio variant.

The Galaxy Z Flip 8 starts at €1.299 and is available in Graphite, Cream, and Pink. The Mint color is also available via Samsung.com.

All three models are available for pre-order now. During the pre-order period, which runs until August 6, 2026, Samsung is offering trade-in and shopping cart discounts, among other things. A six-month trial of Google AI Pro with 5 TB of cloud storage is also included. After the trial period, the subscription will automatically renew at a cost unless canceled in time.
