DJI Osmo Mobile 8P with detachable FrameTap
New is the detachable Osmo FrameTap. This is a remote control with an integrated display that allows you to remotely transmit the live feed from your smartphone. An additional joystick enables precise control over gimbal movements and zoom, while additional parameters such as brightness and color temperature of the optional fill light can be adjusted directly.
The DJI OM Multi-Function Module 2 adds additional tracking and lighting functions to the gimbal. The brightness and color temperature of the integrated fill light can be adjusted in eight steps. It attaches magnetically.

ActiveTrack 8.0 and Apple DockKit
DJI has also improved its tracking capabilities. ActiveTrack 8.0 is designed to keep subjects more stable in the frame, even in fast-paced situations. DJI cites concerts, sporting events, and busy environments as examples. The tracking system is intended to better compensate for obstacles, react more quickly to movements, and now tracks objects such as cars and buildings in addition to people and animals.
Alternatively, the gimbal also supports Apple DockKit on iPhones. This allows subject tracking to be used directly via the native camera app, without necessarily relying on the DJI Mimo app.
Creative modes in the DJI Mimo app
The DJI Mimo app offers several shooting modes designed to visually enhance typical smartphone videos. These include DynamicZoom, which uses "Move In" and "Move Out" modes to create classic stretch and compression effects. Slow Shutter mode is intended for light trails and night shots, while Action Shot is designed for fast-moving subjects such as athletes or dancers.

Additionally, DJI offers a widescreen mode in 2,35:1 format, which creates recordings directly with a more cinematic aspect ratio. This eliminates the need for post-production cropping. Furthermore, 360° Infinite Spin allows for unlimited horizontal rotation. Combined with tracking functions, this should make panoramic shots and dynamic camera movements easier to achieve.
Low angle perspectives are also possible. By tilting the pan axis forward, shots from low angles can be achieved, for example for scenes from a child's or pet's perspective.
Stabilizer, tripod and extension rod
The DJI Osmo Mobile 8P uses eighth-generation 3-axis stabilization. According to DJI, the gimbal weighs approximately 386 grams and features an integrated tripod and a 215-millimeter extension rod.
The tripod has been redesigned and now opens wider, providing greater stability for the gimbal on various surfaces. DJI claims a battery life of up to 10 hours for extended recording sessions. The integrated USB-C port also allows the Osmo Mobile 8P to be used as a smartphone charger.
