DJI has officially unveiled the Mic Mini 2. The target audience is once again content creators who want to work on the go without complex setups and expect a complete package of range, battery life, and ease of use. DJI is also placing greater emphasis on design customization this time around.

Compact, lightweight and more flexible in its use

Weighing in at around 11 grams, the transmitter remains very light and therefore discreet during use. A rotating magnetic clip is designed to make it easier to align with the sound source. Also new is the redesigned all-in-one charging cradle, which holds the transmitter, receiver, and accessories together, keeping everything organized on the go.

DJI continues to prioritize broad compatibility in terms of connectivity: The system can be paired with cameras, smartphones, and computers. Older components of the Mic Mini series are also supported, making the transition easier.

New is the option for customization. For the first time, DJI is offering interchangeable magnetic front covers in various colors. Black and white versions are included as standard; additional designs, including some created in collaboration with illustrator Victo Ngai, will be available separately.

Improved audio features

Compared to its predecessor, the DJI Mic Mini, the new model offers several improvements to audio recording. These include three selectable sound profiles (Regular, Powerful, Bright) that allow the microphone to adapt more quickly to different recording situations. This is complemented by two-stage noise cancellation, designed to work effectively in both quiet indoor and noisy outdoor environments.

As with the original Mic Mini, features such as automatic level limiting, multi-stage gain control, and dual-track recording via the DJI Mimo app are available. Recording is still done in semi-professional 48 kHz at 24-bit.

Range and battery life

DJI states a maximum transmission range of up to 400 meters (depending on the receiver). Battery life is up to 11,5 hours for the transmitter and 10,5 hours for the receiver. Combined with the charging cradle, the manufacturer claims a total operating time of up to 48 hours. A fast-charging function also allows for short flights after just a few minutes of charging.
