Functions in the car display

Since the update to iOS 26, iPhone users can check the status of their Nuki product (e.g.  Nuki Smart Lock Ultra ) on the vehicle display and perform locking actions with a single tap. The integration is part of the Nuki app version 2025.10.1, which is available now.

The widget displays the status of the Smart Lock, Opener, and Smart Door. If a door sensor is installed, it also provides information about whether the door is open or closed. It also displays the device's battery level and up to two freely selectable locking actions. Control is done directly via the CarPlay display, without having to unlock the smartphone or open the app.

Fast implementation after Apple update

Apple announced at WWDC 2025 that it would introduce customizable widgets for CarPlay with iOS 26. Nuki responded within a few weeks and is now making the feature available to all users.

"We want to implement the new possibilities opened up by this Apple update for our users as quickly as possible. I'm therefore all the more pleased that, thanks to our new CarPlay widget, Nuki can already be used directly in the car less than a month after the release of the final iOS 26 version.", says Jürgen Pansy, co-founder and Chief Innovation Officer of Nuki.

More safety and comfort in everyday life

The Nuki development team emphasizes its practicality for everyday use. Anyone unsure whether the front door is locked while out and about can now check with a quick glance at the car display.

Opening the garage door upon returning home can also be initiated with a fingertip. This is intended to increase both convenience and safety, as users are less distracted, for example, by reaching for their smartphone while driving.
