Design, workmanship and delivery

As always, the design is a matter of taste. Nevertheless, I will go into a few features here. Striking for the BlitzWolf BW-FYE8 are the vertically arranged Dual driver, its many curves and the striking piano lacquer look. The shaft, which protrudes from the ear, evokes memories of the proven design of the Apple AirPods.

BlitzWolf BW-FYE8 box

The housing of the earphones are largely made from one piece. There are hardly any gaps in which dirt could accumulate. But also against Water jets (IPX5) the earphones are largely protected. The weight of each earphone is light 5 grams.

The BW-FYE8 is delivered with an oval charging case. There are four LED indicators above the BlitzWolf logo, which indicate the charging status of the earphones (25% per LED). The earphones are magnetically pulled into the charger and hold there reliably. The same applies to the lid, which also closes magnetically. Bring charging case with earphones 71 grams on the scales.

The quality of workmanship the earphone and that of the charging case is good. The What's in the box includes the BW-FYE8 earphones, silicone earmolds in sizes S, M and L, the charging case, a MicroUSB charging cable and a multilingual user manual. Any conventional smartphone charger can be used for charging.

BlitzWolf BW-FYE8 scope of delivery

Good in-ear headphones should be as inconspicuous as possible and still sit securely in the ear. This applies largely to the BlitzWolf BW-FYE8. The sound tube of the in-ear head is angled so that only the silicone tips touch the ear. Even after a longer period of wear, there is no uncomfortable pressure in the pinna.

The interchangeable earmolds allow very good adaptation to the wearer. If you want to use the in-ear for sport, you should consider replacing the supplied silicone pads with memory foam attachments.

If you open the lid of the charging case, both earphones try to connect to the previously connected playback device. If no connection has been established, the system automatically switches to pairing mode.

The pairing mode can be recognized on both in-ears by a red-blue flashing LED. In contrast to many other TWS in-ears, in which one earphone is connected to the playback device as a "master" and the second earphone only connects to the "master" as a "slave", each of the two BW-FYE8 earphones acts as its own Bluetooth device. Accordingly, each earphone must be connected to the playback device separately.

A big advantage of this rather unusual implementation is that you don't necessarily have to use both earphones. If you want to leave one ear free, the second earphone can simply remain in the charging case. There is no impact on sound quality or latency to the playback device. More about this under the item Sound Quality.

Depths, mid and highs

The BlitzWolf BW-FYE8 is a classic in-ear headphone with "Bathtub characteristics". The sound is characterized by a heavily emphasized bass and raised highs. The mids in turn are slightly neglected, which is why vocals move audibly into the background. This sound image is especially pleasing to the mainstream music listener, who loves you dynamic sound prefers.

Lovers of electronic music are guaranteed to get their money's worth. With precisely fitting ear tips, it becomes a very good one External noise insulation reached, so that basses come into their own. If you prefer to enjoy your music in a neutral and genuine way, you should definitely stay away from the BW-FYE8!

The built-in audio processor is a Qualcomm QCCC3020. This is often used in inexpensive TWS headphones. Key features of the chip are Bluetooth 5.0, a CVC noise reduction and the support of the aptX audio codec.

In conjunction with a aptX compatible playback device, the high-resolution audio codec is selected by default. Compared to AAC, aptX offers a higher bit rate (352 vs. 250 kbps) and lower latency. There are hardly any tonal differences between the codecs. However, the lower latency has a positive effect on the picture-sound synchronicity, provided that the BW-FYE8 is used for watching films.

Multifunction key

Each of the two earphones has a so-called "Multifunction key". A small part of the earphone head is also a touch control panel that reacts to different touch patterns. It is possible to control music playback, incoming calls and the voice assistant.

In the test, the proved Touch control as unreliable. Finding the point of contact straight away is difficult. If you hit the point, the input recognition reacts with a great delay, so that the different touch patterns are difficult to implement.

The BlitzWolf BW-FYE8 is with one Dual microphone fitted. Calls can be made in an understandable manner. CVC noise reduction also works, but weakens in city traffic with a lot of noise. A strong noise reduction is noticeable in a dull and slightly washed-out speech quality.

According to BlitzWolf, a fully charged battery is sufficient for 5 hours of music playback. Surprisingly, the battery life was significantly longer in the test. Only after 13 hours of music playback the BW-FYE8 had to go back to the charging case. The charging case is equipped with a 500 mAh battery. This allows the earphones to be fully charged four times.

There is no quick-charging function, as it is available with many high-priced brand models. It takes almost 2 hours to fully charge the earphones and the charging case.

The BlitzWolf BW-FYE8 offers long-term comfort, a remarkable battery life and a well thought-out two-channel connection mode. The in-ear headphones show weaknesses in the “multifunction key” operation. The capacitive control panel does not always work right away.

The tonal coordination is of the "bathtub characteristics" type. Especially lovers of electronic music will get their money's worth. Bass and treble are emphasized, the mids are slightly neglected. If you like this sound and want to stay below € 50, you should definitely take a look at the BW-FYE8.
